Lutherville Families,

We had a great (full!) week of learning at Lutherville, and it was capped off with a fun "Dress to Impress Your Principal" spirit day. And golly did the students impress! It was fun to see students a little more dressed up, or wearing some Eagle green to impress this Philly transplant (Go Birds!). Enjoy the pictures below.

At Lutherville Lab, we have a host of partnerships to help make our school the best it can be, including multiple colleges and universities. One partnership, a mentoring program with Towson University, run by Mrs. Kiewe, was recently featured in this video from the Towson's Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility. We are grateful for all our partners and the opportunities they bring to our students.

Next week is a big week! We have the Scholastic Book Fair and the 100th day of school celebration on Wednesday, February 8th. More information on the Book Fair is below. This month we are also engaging in the Kids Heart Challenge in PE class. See more information below!

We are also celebrating Black History Month throughout February on the morning announcements, with projects in classrooms, and participating again in the highly popular virtual assembly Blacktastic from Arts for Learning Maryland on February 23rd.

We also just received approval for a field trip to Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts for our 3-5th graders to attend their Black History Month assembly. The talented artists at Patapsco, where I taught, always put on an incredible student production and we're excited to bring our intermediate students there to see it the morning of February 23rd. Be on the lookout for a permission slip at the end of next week if your child is in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade.

Attached is information from the BCPS Special Education Resource Center and the Special Education Citizen's Advisory Committee. Please see the attachments for meetings and webinars that may be of use to your families in continuing to support and advocate for your children.

Finally, did you know that BCPS has a virtual calming room? Check it out here.

Have a great weekend, Leopard families!

-Mr. McComb

Kids Heart Challenge

It’s time for the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge! Our students are raising donations for the health of all hearts and the American Heart Association. Students participating will join our “Kids Heart Challenge” special event during the school day in late February and get moving with fun activities, learn about keeping their hearts and brains healthy and feel great about helping others. Not only will you be helping fight heart disease and stroke (the No. 1 and No. 2 killers worldwide), but participants can earn fun thank you gifts. We appreciate all your help and please see the attached flyers for more information. Please submit donations to the American Heart Association by Friday, February 17, 2023. THANK YOU!!!
