33rd Annual Kick-A-Thon
The entire D303 community gathered on Friday, Sept. 25 to celebrate the 33rd annual Kick-A-Thon!
This cherished cross-town tradition, hosted by the St. Charles East and St. Charles North Dance Teams, raises vital funds to support Fox Valley Food For Health and Cal’s Angels.
Held at St. Charles North High School, the evening was filled with fun, delicious food, and lots of great energy. Schools proudly paraded around the track displaying their banners with big smiles, and the highlight of the night was the crowd-favorite kicking line, where participants had an absolute blast!
Between the thrilling football game, upbeat music, and spirited cheers, it was truly an unforgettable night for everyone involved. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible!
Literacy Professional Learning for Special Educators
During the week of September 21, Carrie Cole from Side by Side Consulting visited D303 to lead comprehensive professional learning workshops for district staff. She facilitated engaging sessions with secondary special educators that focused on practical Science of Reading strategies tailored to support reading comprehension across specific content areas. Additionally, elementary special educators participated in a dedicated two-day workshop with Carrie centered on building and reinforcing foundational Science of Reading principles to enhance literacy instruction.
Dance-A-Thon at Wild Rose Elementary
On Friday, September 18, Wild Rose students danced, laughed, and celebrated while helping make a BIG difference in their school community. And this year, Wild Rose crushed its fundraising goal!
Thanks to the incredible support of Wild Rose families and the community, funds raised will help provide exciting new recess equipment, enhancements to the art department and ALC, and new school spirit initiatives, including a brand-new Wild Rose Panther mascot costume. These efforts also help continue many of the PTO’s most-loved programs, including after-school enrichment, assemblies, field trips, Birthday Books, Winter Shop, and so much more. From the fundraising to the dancing, there was plenty to celebrate!
U.S. Paralympic Athlete Visits Davis Elementary
On September 25, Davis Primary School had the privilege of welcoming U.S. Paralympic athlete Sandy Dukat, who spent time with kindergarten students sharing her personal story of perseverance, dedication, and overcoming adversity.
Throughout her interactive presentation, Dukat offered inspiring words about the importance of self-acceptance, celebrating individual uniqueness, and embracing personal challenges. She encouraged the young audience to approach new experiences with courage, step outside their comfort zones, and keep trying even when tasks become difficult.
Born without her right femur, Dukat relies on a prosthetic leg to remain active and compete at elite international levels. Her athletic accomplishments include winning bronze medals in alpine skiing at both the 2002 Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Turin, Italy. Beyond her success on the slopes, she is an accomplished multi-sport athlete who competes in competitive swimming, triathlons, marathons, and mountain climbing.

Trick-Or-Treat So Kids Can Eat!
This Halloween season, the SCN Theatre Club is collecting food instead of candy!
On Friday, October 30, 2026, SCN Theatre Club students will head into the community, going door-to-door with a simple request: “Trick or treat… got any food to spare?”
Instead of collecting candy, students will be collecting non-perishable canned and packaged food items to donate to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
What Can You Donate?
Non-perishable food items such as:
Canned vegetables and fruit
Canned soups and beans
Pasta and pasta sauce
Peanut butter
Cereal
Macaroni and cheese
Other shelf-stable, non-perishable foods
Please make sure all donated items are unopened and not expired
Want to Help Before the Trick-or-Treating?
There will be food donation drop-off boxes in the offices of Student Life, the CCR, the student cafeteria, and the LRC at St. Charles North High School, giving students, staff, and families another opportunity to contribute to the drive. Drop-off boxes will be available starting on 10/1.
