Hooks School Recognized by DESE at State House

On Tuesday at the Grand Staircase inside the Massachusetts State House, the Edgar F. Hooks Elementary School was honored for earning School of Recognition status earlier this school year! Hooks Principal Dr. Kim Crowley and Superintendent Dr. Almi G. Abeyta attended the event and were recognized alongside 54 other Schools of Recognition across the Commonwealth.

Schools of Recognition are awarded annually to schools that demonstrate progress toward annual accountability targets, with an emphasis on improved achievement in ELA and math.

A special thank you to State Senator Sal DiDomenico and State Representative Judith García for recognizing the success of the Hooks too!

Health News | American Academy of Pediatrics Immunization Schedule Recommended by Massachusetts DPH

In response to news this month regarding childhood vaccination recommendations, Chelsea Public Schools is sharing the following information and reminders with its community regarding pediatric vaccinations.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health sets the requirements for immunizations that school-aged children need for school entry. These requirements remain unchanged. Please visit our website for information regarding immunization requirements at school.

Earlier this month, DPH announced a change in recommended reference materials for pediatric immunization schedules. The department now recommends that clinicians in Massachusetts use the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommended Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule as the primary reference for the immunization of infants, children, and adolescents. Please visit the DPH website for more information and access to AAP resources.

If you have any additional questions or questions specific to your child, please contact your child’s school for more information.
