Panther Families,

The building has a lot of energy this week as our staff gets ready to welcome students to the new school year. The Meet & Greet was very busy last night, and our teachers commented this morning that they saw more people than they have in the past few years. They loved seeing everyone.

If you have questions about your schedule, please reach out to your counselor. Find your counselor on the Counseling page of our website. Our counselors are available throughout this week to help with any questions or needs. Students can also find a link in Schoology to request a schedule change.

New Students & 9th Grade Students: iPad Exchange

If you are a new student and need an iPad or a 9th grader who still needs to exchange your iPad, we will have time set aside on Monday, August 31. Only 9th graders and new students are in the building on Monday. Our technology department will also be available throughout the first week of school to help with any iPad pick up’s or exchanges.

Monday, August 31: New Student & 9th Grade Orientation

A reminder for all 9th graders and new students to SLPHS: Monday, August 31, is dedicated to helping you navigate the building and get comfortable at SLP! You will work with our Panther Mentors to tour the building, find your classrooms, learn where you need to go, and get ready for your first full day of school on Tuesday, September 1.

Schoology Resources

A few people have reached out with questions about Schoology and other technology resources. This Technology Tools, Resources and Log in’s webpage has a number of helpful resources. Topics include support for logging in as a student or parent/guardian on Schoology and accessing other digital tools. Schoology continues to be our digital learning system.

We can't wait to see you on Monday, August 31 if you are a 9th grader or new student. Otherwise, we will see returning students on Tuesday, September 1!

Arrival Information:

  • 9th Grade & New Students: Monday, August 31 — 8:10 a.m. we will start in the Panther Gym
  • Returning Students: Tuesday, September 1 — 1st hour starts at 8:10 a.m.

Enjoy these last few days of summer. We are excited to welcome everyone back and start another great year at SLPHS! Go Panthers!

Proud to be a Panther,

Megan Jahnke

2026-2027 School Handbook

Our Spring Lake Park Schools School Handbook for 2026-2027 is now available. The handbook is a guide for families and students on the practical aspects of school – start and end times, procedures for absences, transportation, meals, policies and more. Please review the information and refer to it, as needed, throughout the year and contact your school as you have questions.

Transportation reminders for a new year

  • Bus Tracking (MyStop app): We use MyStop, which is web-based application available to parents and students that allows them access to live bus GPS information. Using a smartphone or tablet, parents and students can view the current location of buses on routes and the estimated time of arrival at their neighborhood bus stops. Learn more about MyStop.
  • Bus Safety: It is very important all students and families understand our bus safety rules. See the full bus safety list on the transportation webpage.
  • Plan to ride the bus on first day of school: For students who ride the bus, please plan for your student to ride the bus on the first day of school to help us work out all our routines and eliminate as much confusion as possible.
  • Transportation webpage and contact information: Find all transportation information on the transportation webpage. For any questions regarding transportation, please contact the transportation department at transportation@district16.org or 763-600-5590.

Review beginning of the year notifications

At the beginning of each year, we provide families with important notifications. Many of these notifications align to our school district policies and practices. Please take a few minutes to review the information and take any actions that align with your family’s preferences. All notification policies can be found on the Back to School hub.

These notices cover:

  • Sharing photos, videos and success stories
  • Protection and privacy of student records and information
  • Digital tools and data privacy
  • Internet, Technology and Cell Phone Acceptable Use
  • Voluntary supplemental student accident insurance

Printed district calendar update

All families should have received a printed district calendar in the mail this month. If your family does not use it or have a need for it - rather than throwing it away - we ask that you please consider returning to the District Services Center main office (1415 81st Ave. NE). There is a bin there to place it in and we will repurpose and reuse!

New digital scoreboards at the high school

If you get to a soccer or football game this fall in Panther Stadium, you'll notice a new digital scoreboard. In partnership with a group of community fundraisers, we were able to move forward with installation of this enhancement over the summer. There are also digital scoreboards in the Panther gym and at the softball and baseball fields.

The scoreboards will provide clear, real-time updates, flexible multi-sport use, and bright LED visibility from any angle. Learn more about sponsorship and other visibility opportunities on this sponsorship handout and check out the scoreboards at an upcoming game.
