April Showers Bring...Mud Puddles
Parents - Please make sure you pack a change of clothes (that are weather appropriate) in your child's backpack EVERY DAY. This is for ALL students, grades JK-4th, you never know when your student may have a nosebleed, or loose a tooth, or spill food/milk on their shirt, or find a mud puddle outside, or have a bathroom accident. If your student keeps a change of clothing in their backpack, then we can take care of it here, otherwise we need you to bring up a change of clothes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Music Notes
There are many musical performances for students in the next few weeks. Attendance for performers is very important.
4th Grade
Fourth graders will be performing their Friends! concert on Thursday, April 30th. The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the Spencer gym. 4th graders should wait with their families in the gym and then report to their classrooms when Mrs. Muszynski makes an announcement (around 5:45 p.m.) Students should wear clothes representing Friends, K-Pop Demon Hunters, Golden Girls, Toy Story or the White Stripes. If students are unable to dress with one of those themes, then they could dress up or wear their Roadrunner shirt.
3rd Grade
3rd graders will be performing their Michigan History concert on Tuesday, May 12th at 6 p.m. Students should wait with their families in the gym and then report to their classrooms when Mrs. Muszynski makes an announcement (around 5:45 p.m.) Students should wear their Roadrunner shirts.
Spencer Singers
Spencer Singers have performances on Friday, May 15th and Tuesday, May 19th. Please see e-mails from Mrs. Muszynski for the rest of the details.

Spencer Dance Club
We’re excited to offer a fun and engaging dance opportunity for students this spring! Beginning Wednesday, May 6th, students can join us from 4pm-5pm each week to learn foundational dance technique and work together on a group routine. Dancers will have the chance to showcase their hard work by performing in the school talent show on June 10 that takes place during the school day. There is no cost to participate and classes will be held at Spencer right after school- just sign up and join us at the link here by Monday, April 27th! We’d love to have your child be part of this exciting experience. Warmly, Miss Salerno and Mrs. Phillips

Bus Drivers Needed!
Drop Off Cabinet
You will find the Drop Off Cabinet near the main entrance to the school. Here you will put those forgotten items that your student may need. Simply fill out the small slip of paper with the student's name and teacher, and a staff member will deliver the item to your student.
Food Pantry and Lost & Found
**NEW LOCATION**
Our Food Pantry and Lost & Found are both located in the front of the school near Door #3.
Water Bottles
Please remember to send your child to school each day with a refillable water bottle with their name on it. Spencer has water refilling stations throughout the building and we encourage students to drink water throughout the day.
Remember Your ID
Please remember to bring your ID with you EVERY day you come to pick up your student! We frequently have substitute teachers that will not recognize you and will send you back to your vehicle to get your ID before releasing your child to you. This is for the safety and security of your student.

Volunteer Form
If you are planning to volunteer in classrooms or on field trips this year, you must fill out a background check. This needs to be done each year and if you have students in other buildings around the district, you only have to fill out the form one time and indicate which buildings you would like to volunteer in. Here are the steps to get to the form...

Signing Students In/Out
We are continuing our efforts to maximize security and minimize traffic in our lobby where students frequently pass through at any given time during the course of a school day, and will again use the QR code system for parents/guardians when either 1) signing in your student tardy or 2) picking up your student early. The QR codes will be affixed outside Door #1 (the main entrance door) and you will simply use the camera on your phone to scan the QR codes (NOTE: one code is for signing IN a student and one code is for signing OUT a student). After you scan the code, it will direct you to either the Student Sign In or Sign Out Google Form. The office and/or safety officer will then locate your student and send them out to you where you will show your ID. **NOTE** This year you will have to wait outside for your student to come down for an early pick up so be mindful of the weather conditions (ie: bring an umbrella if it's raining). To expedite this process, it will be helpful to you to send in a note with your student in the morning to give to the teacher if you will be picking up your student early.
Here are the QR Links. You can always save these to your phone for quick reference.

Scranton Middle School Presents Beetlejuice Jr. April 24–26, 2026
It’s showtime! Scranton Middle School Musical Theatre invites audiences to step into the strange and unusual world of Beetlejuice Jr., the wildly entertaining musical based on the Broadway hit and the beloved Tim Burton film, with four performances April 24–26, 2026, at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts.
Beetlejuice Jr. tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a bright and unusual teenager fascinated with the whole “being dead thing.” When Lydia meets a recently deceased couple and a mischievous demon named Beetlejuice, chaos and hilarity quickly follow. Filled with energetic musical numbers, outrageous humor, and a delightfully spooky story, the production promises a fun and unforgettable theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
More than 60 Scranton Middle School students are involved in bringing this production to life, both on stage and behind the scenes. Students have spent months rehearsing, learning choreography, designing sets, and preparing costumes as part of the school’s growing musical theatre program.
Tickets — $16 each — are available for the following performances at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts:
