Thank you, and if you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Main Office at BHS.

BHS Morning Arrival

We are happy to welcome students into BHS every school day morning when our doors open at 7:10am. Busses will drop off in the main bus loop at the front of the school, student drivers must park in the lot located on the west side of the building, and parents dropping their student(s) off should do so in the east side parking lot only.

If you are a parent dropping your student off, please note the following:

  • There will be signs and cones indicating the dedicated drop-off area at the curb on the east side of the building. Please only drop off your child in this area.

  • BCSD support staff will direct traffic in the drop-off area. We ask that all drivers pull as far forward in the drop-off area as they can before letting their student out of the car.

  • All cars must remain in the drop-off line and drop off curbside only. Please do not pull through or park in parking spots when dropping off students. This significantly impairs our ability to control traffic patterns and to keep pedestrians out of the flow of traffic.

  • Please remain in line and do not pass other cars in the drop-off line.

  • Please do not drive down the middle row. That lane is only for staff members who are parking.

  • School doors will open at 7:10am. Students will not be able to enter the building prior to that time.

  • When leaving parking lot D from 7-7:30am, you must turn right. This will allow traffic to flow more effectively and avoid backups.

Please reference the image below for clarification on traffic patterns.

Thank you for your assistance and cooperation in maintaining the safety of everyone on our campus.

Free and Reduced Meals Update and Application 2022-23

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The following is a reminder regarding important information regarding free & reduced price meals for the 2022-23 school year.

On August 31, 2020, the federal government announced free breakfast and lunch for all students in all districts across the nation until June 30, 2021. This waiver was extended until June 30, 2022.

The free meal waiver was not extended past June 30, 2022. Effective September 2022, families will need to fill out a free and reduced meal form in order to receive free breakfast and lunch meal benefits for their children. Those families who do not qualify will need to pay for school meals. The price for meals have been approved by the Brockport CSD Board of Education and are available on the district website under the Food Service section.

If you filled out an application in 2021-2022 and qualified, your benefits will be carried over into the following school year until Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at which time you will need to submit a new application. If you have not completed an application for 22-23, there is still time to apply.

Benefits of filling out an application and qualifying include, allowing students to request waivers for AP exams, SAT or ACT tests, and/or college applications.

The 2022-23 Free and Reduced Meal Application is available on the district website under Food Service and also will be inserted in the district calendar mailed to families in August.

For more information, please call Administrative Assistant Jessica Ernstberger at 637-1846, or Director of Food Service Stacey Snyder at 637-7449, ext. 2670.

Sincerely,

Stacey Snyder
Director of Food Service

Extended Breakfast Service

For the 2022-23 school year, breakfast will be available to all students BHS beginning at morning arrival (7:10am) and extending to the beginning of our first lunch at 10:53am.

NYS Regents Exam Score Appeal

For June 2022 Regents Exams, New York State Education Department (NYSED) is allowing for all students to appeal a score on a Regents examination to earn credit towards graduation.

To qualify for an appeal:

  1. The student must have taken the Regents Exam during the June 2022, August 2022, January 2023, June 2023 or August 2023 test administration periods.
  2. The student must have a score of 50-64 on the Regents Examination that is the subject of the appeal and was taken during one of the above administrations.
  3. The student must have attained a course average in the course that meets or exceeds the required passing grade by the school, 65. This average is calculated for all cases without the inclusion of the exam score in the course average.
    • Note, there are courses at BHS that include regents exam scores as a factor in the posted course final average.

Following the prescribed process dictated by NYSED, Brockport High School will be awarding an appeal for all students who meet the above criteria. If your student received a grade of 50-64 on their Regents exam and has a course average above 65 without including the exam grade as a factor, their Regents exam score has met the criteria and will be approved for the appeal. These special appeals may apply to any diploma type (local, Regents, Regents with Advanced Distinction) and do not eliminate a student’s ability to earn the mastery or honors endorsement. NYSED has communicated that these appeals will be available to all students during the June 2022, August 2022, January 2023, June 2023 and August 2023 test administration periods. Exam score appeals will appear as an SA (Special Appeal) on the student’s transcript and will replace a numerical grade. A student’s parent or person in parental relation may refuse an appeal. If that is the case, a student can re-take the exam at a future test administration scheduled by NYSED. Appeals may also be completed any time in the future prior to a student’s graduation.

You can access the NYSED published memo and FAQ documents regarding 2021-22 and 2022-23 Regents Examination Scores to Satisfy Diploma Requirements at the links below:

  • Flexibility in the Use of 2021-22 and 2022-23 Regents Examination Scores to Satisfy Diploma Requirements | New York State Education Department (nysed.gov)
  • Frequently Asked Questions Related to Flexibility in the Use of 2021-22 and 2022-23 Regents Examination Scores to Satisfy Diploma Requirements (nysed.gov)

NYS Regents Exams and Final Course Grades Update

Beginning in the 2022-23 school year, Brockport High School will no longer use any NYS Regents exam scores as part of a student’s course average. This adjustment to our practice aligns with the New York State Education Department’s recommendation which discourages the use of Regents Examination grades in final course grades.

NYS Regents exam scores will continue to be reported on transcripts. No Regents exam will be used in the final grade calculation. Students who have qualified for an E (exempt) or SA (special appeal) will continue to have those indicators appear on their transcript.

As new Regent’s exams are implemented, we will monitor and adjust our practices related to exam score reporting. In all subjects, if a student misses a Regents exam for an unexcused reason, “Absent” will be noted on the transcript.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any BHS administrator.
