October 2025 October 2025

Dear Hawthorn District 73 Families,

The purpose of this message is to share that your child’s standardized student assessment reports are now available in your secure PowerSchool Parent Portal. Sharing these reports digitally reflects a safe, confidential method of communication; is environmentally friendly; and provides you with easy, anytime access to your child’s assessment results. At this time, you will find the following standardized assessment reports posted to your secure account in the PowerSchool Parent Portal:

  • FastBridge earlyReading and earlyMath Grades K-1 only

The earlyReading and earlyMath assessment measures are administered to kindergarten and first grade students in the fall, winter, and spring. The assessments are composed of quick and flexible subtests, designed to measure and monitor the development of students’ foundational reading and math skills. More information is available via the FastBridge website for earlyReading and earlyMath.

  • Measures of Academic Progress (MAP Growth) Grades 2-8 only

The MAP Growth assessment is administered to second through eighth grade students in the fall, winter, and spring. The assessment is aligned with the Common Core State Standards, and designed to measure achievement and progress in both reading and math. MAP Growth is computer-adaptive, meaning it adjusts in accordance with each student’s responses to determine an appropriate level of questioning. Please access the MAP Family Toolkit for more information.

Please note that MAP Growth is now using a new set of national norms to help interpret student scores. You may notice that your child’s percentile looks different than before, and the same score may now be associated with a higher percentile. This change applies to both current and past reports in MAP Growth. MAP Growth has also improved how it adapts to each student. The test now aligns even more closely with the content students are learning in class, helping teachers understand how students are performing relative to grade-level expectations.

When reviewing your child’s assessment report, it may be helpful to access the assessment page of our district website. This page provides information about the purpose and frequency of each assessment, as well as how to read assessment reports. If you have any questions regarding our district’s assessment program, please connect with your child’s principal, assistant principal, or building assistant supervisor.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the growth and learning of all students!
