A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
On October 1, we will host our Open House. This evening is designed for adults only this year. In the last couple of years, we have received several questions about what we teach and do here at RES, so we felt Open House would be an opportunity to teach our community about new programming, philosophies, and protocols. We are excited to address wonderings, provide information and share our pride in what we do to inspire and engage our elementary students!
On this night, our staff will highlight all aspects of your child(ren)'s day at school. You will have a chance to meet the team of teachers in your child(ren)'s grade, as well as other teachers your child learns from, such as our UA team, special education team, interventionists and more. We hope this provides a comprehensive picture of RES.
From 6:00-6:45 PM, teachers will present in their classrooms. From 6:45-7:15 PM family members can visit the gymnasium where all of our non-classroom teachers will be ready with information and conversations for you to wander through, as you wish.
Although this is a change from the last four years, teachers are putting in a tremendous effort and working collaboratively to ensure you feel informed and confident that RES is a thriving and supportive community dedicated to teaching and learning! We understand that some families have to visit more than one classroom or grade so we will be sure to provide all resources should you not be able to attend or if you cannot be in two places simultaneously. If you are still working on childcare for that evening, please see the form from the PTA below. They (and we) are working to problem solve this potential barrier and support you, if possible.
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts
SMALL GROUP PEER MODELS: OPT OUT?
Throughout the year, our School Counselor, Special Education Teachers and Related Service Providers (OT & Speech) run small groups to support identified students with skill development. These targeted skills are identified through the development of an IEP or through our MTSS programming. The inclusion of peer role models in these group settings is extremely beneficial in practicing these skills. At times, students may be invited to join one or more of these group sessions, often during a lunch block, indoor recess, or a time that is otherwise dedicated for interventions (e.g. WIN block).
If you would NOT like your child to be invited to participate in a group, please complete this form so we can keep this information on file.

I am looking for 2-3 volunteers for our Wellness Committee. This group consists of parent/guardian representative and RES staff members who come together to discuss topics related to our Wellness Policy and Procedures.

The dates are:
September 23, November 18, February 10, March 24 and April 14 at 8:20 in the RES conference room.
Please email Michelle Pitts if you are interested.
PRINCIPAL ADVISORY COUNCIL
I am looking for 2-3 volunteers for our Principal's Advisory Council. This group consists of parent/guardian representative and RES staff members who come together to discuss topics that enrich our students' learning experiences and support a positive culture within our building.
These meetings are held on Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:45 AM.
The dates are:
October 8, November 5, December 3, February 11, March 25 and May 6 at 8:00 in the RES conference room.
Please email Michelle Pitts if you are interested.
DROP OFF AND DISMISSAL TIME
This is Lori Arsenault, the School Counselor. I am also the one who walks up and down the car lines at dismissal and radios inside to let them know which children we need. I'm working really hard to remember last names and cars so I can read through the names quickly. I was hoping I could ask you to please put your NAME TAG facing outward from your dashboard. Many of them are facing up and I have to get close to read them, which takes a little extra time! Soon, I'll know who you are from your car model and your friendly smiles and waves :) but for now, I'd love this little bit of help.
Thank you!
