HONORS SUMMER WORK
Chromebook Issues Over The Summer
With students in grades 3-12 keeping their Chromebooks over the summer break, they are responsible for keeping them in working order for use next year. If your student does experience any issues with their Chromebook over the summer, please click HERE or visit bit.ly/scssummertechticket to submit a Tech Ticket. A Tech Department member will contact you within two business days to assist. If you have any questions, please contact Dave Binkley at dbinkley@scsmustangs.org.
Bus Opt Out
In an effort to increase the efficient use of our available resources, we are requesting that all SCS families that are eligible for transportation services, yet do not plan to use busing services to fill out a form to opt out. Please note that all eligible students can still receive busing services, but knowing which students will not be riding a bus will help us in creating the most efficient routes prior to the upcoming school year. If you do not plan to have your child ride the school bus next year, CLICK HERE to opt out by June 16, 2023. Please submit a separate response for each student you are opting out in your family. Should your transportation needs change after you submit your response, just reach out to the Transportation Department and we will adjust accordingly.
School Fees
As a reminder, all school fees that have not been paid are now considered past due. To check the balance and pay outstanding school fees, go to www.payschoolscentral.com. In addition to Pay Schools Central, school fees can be paid with your student's building secretary through June 15, 2023 or with the Treasurer's Office throughout the summer, Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The High School Bursar, Mrs. Holtz, is also available during summer hours. Prior to June 15th, you can contact your student's building secretary with any questions or Dawn Evangelista (devangelista@scsmustangs.org / 440-572-7021) within the Treasurer's Department during summer hours. With the start of fall sports and the beginning of the new school year, per Board of Education policy, any students with outstanding prior year school fees will be prohibited from participating in any school extracurricular activities (i.e., athletics, student council, school clubs, etc.), field trips, and school sanctioned dances/events that require a purchased ticket. Should you be interested in a payment plan, please contact Dawn Evangelista with questions. Maintaining a current payment plan (monthly payments), allows your student to retain all extracurricular activity privileges.
Meet SMS Administration
Mrs. Jessica Boytim, SMS Principal
Mrs. Boytim's goal is to create a safe, successful and enjoyable school experience for all. She believes in high expectations for learning and that all students have the capacity to grow and learn to be their best self, both in and out of the classroom. She values relationships first and creating academic and social opportunities that engage students, build skills that can be adaptable to all areas of life and that support the individual success of all students.
She appreciates parent involvement and support and believes that this partnership is imperative to a student's success in the middle school. Middle School can be challenging for students: learning higher level content, more about themselves, developing relationships with others, and figuring out life choices and young adulthood. Mrs. Boytim understands this and she and her staff are committed to helping you and your student navigate these years and make them the best they can be.
She is here to serve our school and community and looks forward to another wonderful school year with all of you.
Mrs. Justina Peters, 6th grade Principal
Mrs. Justina Peters will be starting her 34th year in education in August. She has just completed her 15th year Strongsville. Mrs. Peters joined the Strongsville Administration team in 2008, as the Principal of Muraski Elementary. She spent 11 years leading the students and staff to a great start for our young Strongsville students. Currently, Mrs. Peters will continue to be our Assistant Principal at SMS. She is assigned to the 6th grade team of teachers and students.
Mrs. Peters has 3 children, all who have graduated from High School and gone onto college to pursue their own dreams. Jillian is a Vet-Technician and Staff Manager at Animal Clinic Northview in North Ridgeville. McKenah played college basketball and is currently the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Nova Southeastern University, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Delaney will continue her academic and athletic career in the fall, at Walsh University, where she will study to become a teacher and play college softball. Mrs. Peters is married to Mr. Scott Peters, who is also a teacher in Elyria. They have 1 granddaughter, named Raleigh.
The Peters family enjoys family time, and traveling together. They have traditional family Sunday dinners, that will continue for many years. The family continues to love sports, and will travel to see Delaney pitch on her new team this year. Mrs. Peters believes in Family First. It's been her motto for over 34 years.
