April Meeting

We had a great meeting via Zoom on April 20. Everyone agreed it was awesome to "visit" with each other. Officers were selected as follows: president elect-Laura, secretary-Allison, Val-treasurer and altruistic chairperson, Ellyn- membership chairperson, Leona-ADK month chairperson, Pam-club historian, and Kristen- chaplain and sergeant-at-arms. Stacey will be president. The officers will be installed at the next meeting, which will most likely be conducted exclusively on Zoom. The link is below. If you are new to Zoom, feel free to ask Ellyn or Stacey if you have any questions.

Ellyn also explained the features of the chapter website. She has done a wonderful job developing the website and as president. Be sure to check out the many resources on the website including resources for officers.

The Longest Day Alzheimer Event (NEW)

Here is a link to join Ellyn's team for The Longest Day. You will probably have to copy it and put it in your browser bar. https://act.alz.org/site/TR?px=11981516&fr_id=13035&pg=personal We anticipate that it will be an online event.

Toiletry Donations (UPDATED)

The women's shelter had a new director when we contacted them to make arrangements to deliver the toiletries and other items we collected and sorted. We were disappointed when the new director said they did not need the items. Kim suggested we contact the Purple Cow. Everyone agreed it was a good idea. The Purple Cow was delighted to receive our items as they are in the process of putting together toiletry kits for struggling families and homeless people. Here is a link so you can check out their mission. http://thepurplecow.net/ You might also want to check out their Facebook page for more specific details.

Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

At every meeting, each sister is expected to wear her Alpha Delta Kappa badge. If you forget to wear it, you should donate at least $1.00 to the "pot", which will be donated to the food bank in addition to donations from members that will be collected in November and March.
