I wanted to take this time to say thanks to all of you for a wonderful year! We learned a lot, loved each other, and pushed our students to achieving great things! I hope all of you have a restful, memorable summer. Take the time to create lasting memories with your loved ones!

Each year, the Special Education Department asks each school to nominate a general educator of the year award! This award recognizes an educator who goes above and beyond the special education students. A committee met together earlier in the Spring and submitted Kelly Curry as Abbett's nominee for the district award. We received this wonderful certificate the day after school was out, so I was able to present it to Kelly, but I wanted all of you to see this as well. This is great honor! Kelly, we will miss you greatly!

We have now completed hiring, so here are the new employees at Abbett Elementary!

Kindergarten:

Ashley Hager-Ashley is coming from Mesquite ISD with several years of kindergarten experience.

Cynthia Brown-Cynthia is coming to us from Luna Elementary as a kindergarten teacher.

Katie Elliot-Katie is coming to us from Herfurth Elementary as a kindergarten teacher.

First Grade:

Grace Pride-Grace graduated from UNT and completed her student teaching in Coppell ISD.

Second Grade:

Joel Duran-Joel is coming from Richardson ISD and Chicago with a variety of experiences.

Fifth Grade:

Carianne Rapp-Carianne is coming to us from Luna Elementary as a fifth grade teacher.

Kirstie Reston-Kirstie has several years experience in Garland ISD and a charter school.

PE:

Amy Schaefer-Amy has been at Herfurth for 16 years as the PE teacher.
