A MESSAGE FROM THE ELEMENTARY OFFICE

Hello, Jet Families,

As we wrap up another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your support, partnership, and trust. The success of our students is truly a shared effort, and we are grateful for the role you play each day in their growth and learning.

As we head into summer, we encourage you to keep learning alive in simple, meaningful ways. Reading together, asking questions, and having conversations about the world around you make a lasting impact. Whether it’s noticing how math is used while shopping, talking through science during outdoor play, or discussing history and community while traveling, these everyday moments help students stay connected to their learning.

A few important reminders as you plan for next year:

Tuition Transfer requests are due by June 1.
PreK–12 Online Registration opens July 21.
In-person registration will be held August 4 from 2:00–6:00 PM.
Be sure to watch the Jetliners throughout the summer for additional event dates and important updates.

Thank you again for a great year. We are proud of all that our students have accomplished and look forward to continuing this work together in the fall. Have a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer! ✈️

Counselors' Corner

WOW!!!!!! Here we are at the end of the school year.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Here are some simple ways we can promote positive mental health in our students. We can teach our students about Deep Breathing, Exercise, Reading, enjoying the Outdoors, and Positive Social Interactions, and help them identify trusted adults they can talk to in times of need. Did you know that the sun gives us Vitamin D and helps increase our Serotonin? As the weather gets nice and the sun is out longer, encourage your children to get outside and enjoy what nature has to offer!

We will also be having Dress Up days for Mental Health Awareness week, the week of May 11th-15th
Monday: Mellow Monday: Wear your PJ’s to relieve stress

Tuesday: Twin Tuesday: Team up against stress! Dress like a friend because you aren’t alone.

Wednesday: Wear Green for Mental Health Awareness. Green represents the green light to reach out for help if needed.

Thursday: Tie-dye Thursday. Colors can represent a wide range of emotions. It’s ok to express them.

Friday: Wear your spirit wear to show your support for the Adams Central Family.

With summer comes a great deal of free time. If you would like to see what area events are happening, please feel free to check out this link: https://daparks.com/youth

The Decatur Parks and Recreation Department has a lot to offer!

The Elementary Counselors would like to take a moment to congratulate Maddy DeRoo on the completion of her Master's of Social Work Degree! She has been such a helpful addition to the team, and we look forward to seeing where the future takes her!

As always, enjoy the nice weather, and if you need anything at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at:

GRADE 5 BAND INFORMATION

During the school day on May 11 and May 14, all current 4th grade students will be fit for an instrument. Sweetwater representatives will be present here at AC to help students decide which instrument they would like to play! This is not a commitment to band, just a chance for all students to work with a professional to find what instrument works best for them!

On Tuesday, May 19, we will be hosting an Incoming 5th Grade Band Rental/Information Night. We will have a brief meeting at 6:30p for students and parents in the band room. The band room is located on the North side of the building and families can enter through door N4 for the meeting. Following this meeting, a Sweetwater representative will be present to assist with rentals and answer any questions as needed. During this event, please feel free to bring any questions or concerns you may have about rentals, fittings, what band is all about, etc. and we will be glad to answer them for you! If you are not able to attend this information night, please let me know and I will gladly work with you to set something up.

Here are a few of the awesome events and perks of joining the 5th grade band!

Christmas Concert
Play Christmas Songs for Assisted Living Communities (hey mom and dad, that's community service!)
Chicken BBQ Concert
Play The National Anthem at TinCaps Game
5th Grade PTO Basketball Bash
5th Grade Graduation with Band Karate Belts
BANDtastic Day of Celebration...and SO MUCH MORE we will talk about at our meeting on May 19!

We hope you will talk with your student about joining our band! If you or your student has any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out or come and talk to us on the evening of May 19!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You may email me or Mr. Kelley at rifea@accs.k12.in.us or kelleyc@accs.k12.in.us. We also use the BAND app as our primary form of communication. You can download the free app by searching “BAND” in the App Store or Google Play Store—the app has a green and black icon. After downloading, you can join our group using this link: https://band.us/n/afa1b833p7Hd6
