Bellerive Bulletin

Dear Bellerive Families,

Summer is flying by, and there is a lot happening at Bellerive! Our building has been busy with construction and improvements throughout the summer, and it has been exciting to watch the progress. Be sure to check out the photos below for a look at some of the work happening around our school!

As we get closer to the start of the school year, I also want to make sure you don’t miss an important deadline: Wednesday is the last day to order a school supply box! If you would like the convenience of having your child’s supplies purchased and ready to go, be sure to place your order before the deadline. All the details are below.

This newsletter also includes important back-to-school dates, summer reading information, and other updates to help your family prepare for the year ahead. Also, please follow Bellerive on Facebook or Instagram. We will continue to feature Bellerive’s new staff members.

There is still plenty of summer left to enjoy, but the excitement for a new school year is definitely starting to build at Bellerive. Enjoy the weeks ahead, and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

This is a Kindergarten Screening Event only for Incoming Kindergarten students who did not attend Jumpstart to Kindergarten.

Get a head start on the school year! If you are new to Bellerive or haven't utilized this convenient resource previously, please link the Bellerive school calendar to your personal calendar (Outlook, Google Calendar, iCalendar, etc.) to receive automatic updates and have quick access to school events.

Want to skip back-to-school shopping this summer? You can order a school supply kit for a limited time with all the supplies your student will need for their upcoming school year.

2. Each kit includes everything required, with the exception of a few things, like gym shoes. Prices are comparable to Target and cheaper than Amazon
3. Check out using a credit/debit card
4. Consider adding a donation at checkout. Impacks will match the first $5, and all funds will go to supporting our school
5. The supplies will be shipped directly to Bellerive Elementary where you will be able to pick them up during Meet the Teacher

Be sure to purchase your supply kit before the deadline of July 15. If you would prefer to purchase supplies on your own, the school supply list can be found here!

We're making great progress with our construction projects this summer. As a reminder, the building, including the main office, is closed for the duration of the summer. When our community approved Prop S in 2022, it was a commitment to our students' future. This summer, we are continuing to deliver on that promise with critical safety and maintenance updates for our school, including:

Interior Construction

• Building-wide sprinkler system

• Enclose Library bridge with windows

• Update/replace accordion walls in Kindergarten & 2nd Gr. classrooms

• Enclose 2nd Gr. project area to create a calming room and private office or small-group spaces

Exterior Construction

• Sidewalk repair/replacement
• New handrails around bridge and lower playground
• Fence around the playground/field
• Edge, seal, and repair track

New Windows & Exterior Doors

• Back of 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Pods
• 5th Grade Classrooms
• Art Room

New HVAC Units

• 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Pods
• Library

These safety and basic maintenance updates to our school were funded by the 2022 Prop S bond issue. Funding for capital improvements to our schools can only be used for the purpose voters approved. Bond funds cannot support the operating budget.

We are looking forward to returning in August to a safer environment for our students.

Bellerive Summer Reading Website

Join the fun this summer with our Bellerive Reading challenge! Check out the Summer Reading Website for tons of resources to keep your child from being bored this summer and avoid the "summer slide," (loss of reading comprehension which can impact their reading abilities over time)!
