Family Update
Dublin Jerome High School
JAN. 30, 2026 | EMBRACE THE JOURNEY | QTR. 3 WEEK 5
Weekly Message
Good Afternoon!
I hope everyone had a great time away and did all the "snow day" things. I was able to catch up on my doctoral classes, do some chores around the house, and enjoy the new bird feeder I got for Christmas.
I know it shows my age but to be honest it has been so much fun. I am sharing a few photos from this week. I have had blue jays, cardinals, chickadees a woodpecker--and a a squirrel of course! There is something cathartic just watching all the activity happen right outside my window---highly recommend if you are looking for something fun.
I know that there is a lot of readjusting of plans and activities. Let's take it day by day and we will work through it. Let me know if you need anything--we appreciate everyone's help and support to keep us safe!
Yours In Warmth,
Mike
Message from Dr. Marschhausen
🧤"It's been a chilly week out there! Take a moment to watch this winter weather update from Dr. John Marschhausen."
Traffic, Parking Lots and Walkways
Traffic: When we return to school there will be increased traffic all over Central Ohio. Give yourself extra time and be careful!
Parking Lots: With the large amount of snow we have huge snow piles from all the removal. We do have less spots because of snow was pushed into some spaces. Please allow yourself extra time to be sure you can park and get into the building safely.
Sidewalks and Walkways: Due to the diligence of Jay Moseley and our Custodial team our sidewalks and walkways are clear but are still likely be slick (extreme cold beats salt). Please take your time and shuffle those feet. Might also be a good idea to wear your winter boots and change into your school shoes once inside. It's messy!
Overall if we all do this we keep ourselves and our community safe.

INFO & REMINDERS
Student Out Periods
We are very fortunate that our students have a significant amount of flexibility for student schedules Emerald Campus, CCP, Virtual, etc. This is a reminder that if a student is supposed to be OUT of the building for those classes, they are NOT permitted to stay at Jerome.
This is a significant safety concern. If we have a student that does not have a Jerome class on their schedule in the building we will ask them to leave. Students are welcome to be here but will need to be added to a study hall. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Illness symptoms are on the rise at Jerome.
If your child is feeling sick, please see below regarding when to keep your child home. This can also be found on our district website.
.
When to Stay Home
Your child is too ill to go to school if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
- Temperature above 100.4°F
- Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- Shortness of breath or an increase in wheezing during normal activity
- Has a cough that interrupts normal activity
- Rash over the body or localized to one area of the body
- Fatigue and needs bed rest (common with flu-like symptoms)
- Signs of conjunctivitis such as red, crusty or swollen eyes

Snow Day Details
There is no longer a five-day calamity rule in Ohio. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce sets minimum instructional hour requirements, and Dublin City Schools intentionally builds additional hours into the school year calendar in anticipation of inclement weather. Dublin City Schools has been closed six days this year (one day in December and five days in January), and even with those closures, the district remains well above the state minimum instructional hours. Hours missed above the required minimum do not need to be made up, and Dublin City Schools does not anticipate needing to extend the school year or make up missed time.

Track SnowGo Progress
After this weekend’s significant snowfall, our SnowGo Warriors continue making strong progress clearing residential areas. With the freezing temperatures this week, residents should expect plowed roads in neighborhoods, but hard-packed snow from the plows will remain. Crews will begin to treat these areas as soon as temperatures rise. Thank you, Dublin, for your continued patience and understanding! SnowGo updates: http://dublinohiousa.gov/snowgo
