November Parent Update
Dear Clara Westropp Families,
As we step into November, we are filled with gratitude for our wonderful Clara Westropp community! October was an incredible month packed with learning, laughter, and school spirit. From our exciting Math Ghouling Trunk-or-Treat Night to our spirited House Team competition, our students truly shined in every event. Our pumpkin decorating contest showcased amazing creativity and teamwork, while our PBIS celebration for our Littles was the perfect way to recognize their positive behavior and hard work.
We also want to thank all of our families for the amazing turnout during Parent-Teacher Conferences! Your partnership and commitment to your child’s education make all the difference, and we loved having the chance to connect and celebrate student progress together. Inside our classrooms, the learning has been in full swing — students are diving deeper into reading, strengthening their math skills, and engaging in hands-on lessons that build curiosity and confidence every day.
This month, we take time to reflect on all that we are thankful for — our dedicated staff, our supportive families, and, of course, our amazing students who make Clara Westropp such a special place. Let’s continue the season with kindness, gratitude, and pride in all that we have accomplished together!
Warmly,
Mrs. Bing
Attendance Matters at Clara E. Westropp!
We see how much your children grow when they’re here consistently. They’re more confident, more connected to their classmates and teachers, and more engaged in their learning. These daily moments matter—and they add up.
We know mornings can be hectic. Between getting kids dressed, catching the bus, and handling work or other responsibilities, it’s a lot. But every time you help your child show up to school on time, you’re sending a strong message: school matters, and so do they. Your support helps build their confidence and keeps them on track for success.
Even missing just a couple of days a month or arriving late regularly can make it harder for your child to keep up—not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. That’s why we’re asking for your continued partnership in making attendance and punctuality part of your family’s daily routine.
If your child will be absent, please call our school office as early as possible at 216-838-6250 and include:
- Your child’s name
- Reason for absence
- Date of absence
We’re here to support you, and we appreciate everything you do to help your child succeed. Let’s keep working together to make every day count at Clara E. Westropp.

Online Gradebook
Parents, your involvement makes a world of difference! By joining our electronic gradebook, you’ll have instant access to your child’s grades and attendance—all in one place. Staying connected helps you celebrate their successes, notice when they might need extra support, and stay informed every step of the way.
Right now, only 78 out of 463 families have signed up. Let’s change that! To make it fun, we’re starting a Gradebook Challenge—the first homeroom to reach 100% of parent participation will earn a pizza party for the class! Plus, every family within the building who signs up will be entered into a raffle to win an amazing gift card.
If you are struggling to find your student's ID, it can be found at the top of the most recent report card or feel free to stop by the main office to get assistance.

Happy November!
Help your child fight the flu!
Please remember your yearly flu vaccine. Yearly vaccines help students to reduce flu illnesses, flu-related hospitalizations, and missed school days.
Children who are younger than 5 and with chronic illnesses such as Diabetes and Asthma are at a higher risk for developing flu complications.
Remember our MetroHealth School Based Clinic! Our Metro Clinic can administer flu vaccinations during your child's school day. Please reach out to the Metro Clinic or myself for more information, or to schedule an appointment.

Change of Clothes
For students, Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade: Please send a labeled change of clothes for your child to keep at school. Spills, unexpected messes, bathroom accidents, and playground accidents can happen. Having extra clothing helps keep students comfortable throughout the day. Please send a full change of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, and underwear) in a labeled ziploc bag that can stay in their locker or backpack. If your student does not have a change of clothes, you may receive a call to bring them clothing items as we have a low supply at this time. We truly appreciate your support.

We have a limited supply of winter coats and hats. If we have your student's size, there is a required form that needs to be completed to receive these items. Please call or text 216-894-4959 for more information.
