Our next meeting is scheduled at Lake Orion High School on November 12, 2025 at 8 a.m. in the Auditorium Lobby. If you are interested in serving on any of our program committees and are able to attend the meeting, please reply here.
If you have questions or feedback, please contact CFE Supervisor Chad Chappell at 248-693-5420 or chad.chappell@lok12.org

Service Hours
Students can plan ahead and send an email to a former elementary or middle school teacher and ask to help organize their room, clean, make copies, assist in the class or anything else to give back to them for all the ways in which they gave to the student when they were in their classroom! On LOHS half day, Thursday, October 30, AFTER studying for exams, plan to volunteer! After completing the hours, submit them (within the 30 day window) and list the teacher's email address as the contact for verification.
College Admission Visits
Due to Exam week, we have an abbreviated schedule with Adrian College on campus 10/28 and full visit opportunities continuing in November beginning with Northern Michigan University and the Navy, Michigan Army National Guard and Air National Guard hosting tables at lunch. Students can check the sign up genius link in their email that was sent by Ms. Pavelich for all admission representative information.
Grand Valley State University will be conducting onsite admission interviews November 19. If a senior would like to be added to the list, please email CareerCenter@lok12.org or stop by to see Ms. Pavelich to learn more about the process.
Senior Interviews
The Career Center coordinated the first quarter Senior Interviews last week. As part of the senior level Personal Finance class, each student participates in a panel interview, prepared with a portfolio, ready to discuss their skills, current education and plans for the future. This is not only a graduation requirement, but an important life skill for our students. Last week, approximately 165 seniors participated in their interviews with 62 Lake Orion community volunteers. We are so thankful for the volunteers who give of their time to make the interview an authentic and meaningful experience for our students.
If this is something YOU might be interested in participating in as a volunteer, please email careercenter@lok12.org to be added to the list. There is no volunteer preparation required. All students are granted the same experience so you will be given a set of questions and interview process directions. The next interviews take place in January and March 2026.

* North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) *
NOCC NEWS
This past Saturday, October 25, the North Oakland Community Coalition partnered with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for Prescription Take Back Day. This event gave community members the chance to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications: an easy, but important, way to prevent misuse and keep our community safe. We appreciated the help from our Youth Action Board volunteers!
If you missed Take Back Day, don’t worry! While NOCC partners with local law enforcement every April and October for our Take Back Day Events, every day can be Take Back Day. You can find year-round safe disposal sites right here in our community at the NOCC website. Our prescriptions page includes important information about prescription drug misuse, facts for parents to know about drugs such as fentanyl, and of course, our prescription drop-off box map!

Attendance Spotlight
Reporting Absences and Early Dismissals
LOHS utilizes School Dismissal Manager (SDM) for reporting absences and early dismissals. It is accessible through SDM Website or smartphone app - no need to call the school.
- First time users must sign in to SDM using the welcome email sent to families at the end of August. Email Ms. Humes for assistance.
- When signing your child out early, please remind them to check their email for the SDM confirmation.
- They will need to show the SDM confirmation email to their teacher and the front door attendance clerk when leaving.
- There’s no need for parent/guardian to come into the building once permission has been given via SDM or phone call.
If further assistance is needed:
- for SDM, contact Ms. Humes at patricia.humes@lok12.org or 248-693-5420 option 1.
- for the early dismissal line, please contact Jennifer Ply at 248-693-5420 option 2.
If you want more information regarding all things related to the Class of 2026 and Senior Year, go to the LOHS Senior Class of 2026 website. The Senior Bulletin along with important dates and much more will be found on that page.

The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. Architecture, Engineering, and Health Sciences

improvements to our Baseball and Softball fields and weight room
- Building updates: Bathroom and plumbing improvements, building systems updates,
safety and security enhancements, and select furniture and technology updates
