Community Spotlight: Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities Immigration Services provides low-cost immigration counseling and support to families and individuals who are eligible for immigration benefits and cannot afford private assistance. Their office is open for walk-in consultations every Tuesday at 8 a.m.; no appointment necessary. The consultation fee is $30. Their office is located at 2022 W. Sunset Ave., Springdale, AR 72762. On Wednesday, January 29th, Bayyari students and staff welcomed the Springdale School Board and District Administration for a luncheon. Students performed cheer, sang a song, and many students and teachers showcased their afternoon clubs.

On Friday, January 31st the Har-Ber Cheer Team joined Bayyari for our Bear Bash. They watched our 4th and 5th grade Bayyari Cheer Group perform and then they performed for our school. After Bear Bash, the Har-Ber Cheer Team talked with our 4th and 5th Bayyari Cheer girls and stayed for their cheer club to mentor them and help them become better cheerleaders. What a wonderful partnership!

These students worked hard and have now exited the English as a Second Language Program. Every year students work on the English Language through English Language Development and show what they know on the ELPA21 test which covers reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In February, students still in the English as a Second Language Program will take the ELPA21 test. Encourage your child to do their very best! They may graduate the program next year.

Every week we want to introduce you to a fabulous Bear that works at Bayyari. We have some of the best teachers and staff in the world and we can't wait for you to get to know them!

Ms. Gaston is from Springdale, Arkansas. She graduated from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Interior Design degree. This is her fifth year in education. Ms. Gaston is the Art Teacher at Bayyari four days a week and Monitor 1 day a week.

When not working with students, Ms. Gaston enjoys making art, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She has a 3 month old son, Levi, and a sweet dog named Ginger.
