A Message from your Principal

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe we have already reached the midway point of the school year and that our 100th day of school is just around the corner! Time truly flies, and while it may feel like the end of the year will be here in the blink of an eye, we still have so much meaningful learning and growth ahead of us.

Over the past several weeks, our staff has been hard at work completing, analyzing, and adjusting instruction based on students’ i-Ready and DIBELS assessment data. This helps ensure we are meeting students where they are and continuing to support their academic progress. We also enjoyed a fun and well-deserved Winter Carnival celebration to recognize students for following our PBIS expectations. Thank you for reinforcing those positive behaviors at home!

As a reminder, Winter Break is next week, and Trimester 2 will be coming to a close in early March. We are proud of the effort our students and staff continue to show each day, and we are grateful for your ongoing partnership and support. Here’s to a strong and successful second half of the school year!

Warm regards,

Melissa McCaul
Principal, Littleville Elementary

Winter Carnival Winter Carnival

On February 2nd, our school came together for a Winter Carnival as a whole-school PBIS celebration. Students earned and used tickets to participate in a variety of fun, snow- and winter-themed games, creating an atmosphere full of excitement and school spirit. Each grade level visited the gym at a designated time throughout the day, allowing everyone a chance to join in the festivities. The event was filled with laughter, smiles, and positive energy, and it was wonderful to see students enjoying time together while being recognized for demonstrating our PBIS expectations.

Message from the YMCA regarding Summer Program Message from the YMCA regarding Summer Program

To All Gateway Families,

After thoughtful planning for the upcoming summer, the YMCA of Greater Westfield will not be offering a summer program at our Littleville location this year. This was not an easy decision and reflects a careful review of our summer programming.

It has truly been a pleasure to offer summer programming at Littleville over the past two summers, and we are grateful to the families and community who welcomed us and trusted us with their children.

We are excited to share two alternative YMCA summer options that provide an incredible experience for kids — including swimming, weekly themed activities, engaging games and enrichment, and a strong, caring staff team that creates a safe, fun, and welcoming environment.**

We know summer planning is important, and our team is happy to help families explore these options and find the best fit for their child.

Camp Shepard
370 North West Road, Westfield, MA

Program runs Monday, June 29-Friday, August 21
Registration opens in February.

Summer Y’s Kids (at the Westfield YMCA)
Westfield YMCA
Program runs Monday, June 22 through Friday, August 21.
Registration for Summer Y’s Kids (for the upcoming school year) will open on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Although we will not be operating at Littleville this summer, we look forward to welcoming Gateway students back in the fall for our before- and after-school programs.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions about either summer option, please feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.
