Good Afternoon GBS Parents/Guardians,

Amazingly, we are quickly approaching the Thanksgiving Holiday, which means a couple of very important things...

1. Turkey Trot is on Tuesday

2. Spirit competition for Tuesday - Wear the color that corresponds with your grade!

5th - Orange
6th - Purple
7th - Pink
8th - Blue

3. A long weekend (No school 11/27 - 11-29)

4. Time to spend with family and friends, remember all the good things for which we are thankful!

Please have a conversation with your student about safe bus behavior. We have seen a bit of an increase particularly related to volume on the bus. While we do not expect students to sit quietly, we do expect that they would follow the directions of the bus driver without trouble. Remember, it is all about making sure that they stay safe!

A Note from Mrs. Gourlay

As part of our social-emotional support initiatives, we are teaching 7th grade students about mental health, and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend, using a program called SOS Signs of Suicide. The program will be delivered December 3, 4 and 5. It teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help. Through the program, students learn to ACT (Acknowledge, Care and Tell) a trusted adult if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. They will watch video clips, participate in a guided discussion, and complete a brief screening tool. We encourage you to visit www.sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for information on warning signs for youth suicide, useful resources, and some of the key messages students will learn.
