Rocky Point Weekly Update
March 23rd-27th
Hello Rocky Point Families
With last week’s remote learning Monday, we sincerely appreciate all families that supported your child in returning completed assignments in order for them to be marked present off-site for Monday, March 16. Additionally, quarter 3 report cards and second retention letters were sent home with students on Tuesday, March 17. Again, please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or would like to request a conference. As we are well into the 4th quarter, please know that we are striving to make every minute of instruction count and appreciate your efforts to have students in school from bell to bell (7:20a.m. - 2:20p.m.) each day!
We are looking forward to seeing our students’ growth during classroom instruction and on their NC Check-ins this week!

Math will be taken on Tuesday, March 24th, Reading will be taken on Thursday, March 26th and Science (grade 5 only) will be taken on Tuesday, March 31. If students are not at school by 7:20 a.m. and teachers and administration do not know why students are absent, you will receive a phone call as we cannot allow students into their testing session after the assessments have begun.

Million Minute Reading Challenge, Read Around the Bases & Homework Expectations
Our reading challenge at RPE in conjunction with the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge is ongoing. Additionally, during our final nine weeks, if students read for a minimum of 45 minutes a week and complete their reading log, they will receive 2 tickets to go watch a Wilmington Sharks baseball game on June 1. They will also get an opportunity to run around the bases at the game. Please help your child meet this goal and by signing your child’s paper reading log each night. We will continue to assist them in filling out the Google Form when they go to media for specials each week. You may also do so by filling out the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge Google Form found here, RPE Million Minute Reading Challenge, and in Classlink of your child’s computer. Let’s keep reading!
Please also continue to support students in completing their adaptive practice in their online Freckle program on their chromebooks throughout the week. Please support your child in completing a total of 45 minutes at home each week in math for grades 2-5 and in reading for grades 3-5. Help guides are linked below:

Please consider saving and sending in all of your tabs from soda, food and pet food cans before April 2nd in order for us to send them all with the family to the Ronald McDonald House as they head there during spring break. Again, collecting can pop tabs supports the operating costs of providing a home away from home for families with sick children. Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!
