Principal Update 5/6/24

Good Morning Memorial Families,

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. In honor of our teachers, we have created a calendar of special things that you might want to consider doing for your child's teacher this week (see below). Our educators work long hours to develop instruction that engages and challenges all of your children. I have the benefit of being able to see the many ways that they nurture, care for, and love your children and it is remarkable. I am so grateful for the work that they do, and I know that all of you are as well. Please consider participating in some or all of the options this week. Thank you!

If you are free on Thursday night, I recommend heading over to Nipmuc High School for our district's annual Multi-Cultural Night. Our Spanish Immersion classes have been hard at work preparing for their performances, and there will be opportunities to learn about the cultures that make up our district as well as some really terrific food truck options for dinner. The fun begins at 5:30pm non Thursday night.

And finally, we have round two of MCAS for third and fourth grade next week on Monday, May 13th and Wednesday, May 15th. While we do want your third and fourth graders here on the day of testing, please know that make up tests can and do happen. We would prefer to have your child take the test on a day that they feel well, so if they are sick, do not force them to school just to take the MCAS test. Also, please avoid scheduling appointments on the testing days. Some children need the entire day to complete the test, and coming in late or leaving early does not allow them that opportunity.

Have a wonderful week, everyone! We are entering the final days of the fastest school year I've ever experienced.

Warmly,

Wendy

Please click here for more information on parent drop off and pick up, including a video explaining the process

School Hours

Our school hours are 8:45am-3:15pm. Drop off begins at 8:45 and students who arrive after 9:00am are considered tardy. We will begin dismissal right around 3:15pm.

Due to the hectic nature of the late afternoon, we will no longer be allowing parent dismissals from the main office after 2:45pm. If your child has an appointment, please plan to dismiss him/her earlier, or make use of our pick up line at 3:15pm. Thank you for understanding.
