Weekly Update 9/22/25

9-22-25
From the Principal
Parents, Students, and Faculty,
Last week, the Junior Class Ring Ceremony on Tuesday evening was a wonderful success. We had a great turnout of friends and family as our juniors were presented with their class rings — a special tradition that symbolizes their connection to Seminole County Schools. Light refreshments followed, making it a night to remember.
This week will be another busy one at Seminole County Middle High School. On Monday evening at 6:00 PM, the Middle School PTO will meet in the cafeteria and recognize students who earned 3s, 4s, and 5s on AP tests, as well as students who scored 3s and 4s on the Milestones. On Tuesday, our CTI will be attending their Emerging Leaders Conference, and on Wednesday, our seniors will travel to Bainbridge to attend the PROBE College Fair.
In athletics, middle school and/or high school softball teams will play at home on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Middle school and JV football will be away on Thursday, and on Friday, varsity football will travel to Blakely to take on the Early County Bobcats. To wrap up the week, the Seminole Stix fishing team will compete on Lake Seminole out of Big Jim’s on Saturday. We encourage everyone to come out, cheer on our athletes, and show your Indian pride as our teams compete throughout the week!
The end of the nine weeks is quickly approaching on October 3, leaving just two weeks for students to finish strong and stay focused on their goals. Now is the perfect time to turn in any missing assignments, bring up grades, and end the quarter on a positive note. Let’s work together to finish this nine weeks strong!
It’s going to be another great week at Seminole County Middle High School, the best school in southwest Georgia!

Junior Class Ring Ceremony
On Tuesday, September 16, the Seminole County Junior Class gathered with their families and friends for a memorable evening at the annual Junior Class Ring Ceremony. The event was held in the cafeteria at 6:00 p.m. and featured a wonderful turnout from our school community.
During the ceremony, each student was called to the stage, where Mrs. Albritton presented the class ring to the student’s family. Parents and loved ones then had the special honor of placing the ring on their student’s hand, symbolizing the significance of this milestone in their high school journey.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed light refreshments and fellowship together. The evening was a meaningful reminder of the strong ties that connect our students to Seminole County Schools, as the class ring continues to represent pride, tradition, and lasting memories.
Seniors Take on Vocabulary Relay Challenge
Seniors in Mrs. Bush’s ELA class recently put their word skills to the test in a fast-paced vocabulary relay race. Working in teams, students raced to correctly define challenging words, analyze their etymology, and determine accurate antonyms and synonyms.
The activity encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and quick recall while keeping students engaged and energized. By blending competition with learning, Mrs. Bush’s class turned vocabulary study into an exciting event that strengthened comprehension skills and prepared students for upcoming assessments.

GHSA statement on NIL
The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) voted to amend its policies regarding Name, Image, and Likeness payments to prep student-athletes. The changes are focused on curtailing any activity from what is known as NIL Collectives, a system that has permeated and fundamentally altered college athletics. NIL Collectives are shell corporations that function to exploit loopholes in NIL policy and allow donors to pay student-athletes for their athletic talents and enrollment at specific institutions –– these payments are often used in a recruiting context to maintain current players, solicit transfer athletes, or sign top level high school recruits.
With fear of the NIL Collective system seeping down from the NCAA and into the high school level, the GHSA has taken swift action to amend its rules. The new language to GHSA policy was formally voted in yesterday: “No student-athlete may be a member of nor receive compensation or any other benefit from a Collective or NIL Club. A Collective is defined as any group organized or existing for the purpose of compensating or benefiting an individual student[-]athlete or group of student athletes of a member school. NIL Clubs are defined as a group of student athletes organized or existing for the purpose of soliciting funds or other benefits from fans, members or other sources, managing or promoting NIL activities of student athletes or otherwise providing funds or other benefits to an individual student athlete or group of student athletes.”
