Message from Nicole Pease, Principal
Hello DCS families, I hope your start to 2024 has been wonderful! It is such fun to look back over the year and review all that has happened and to look forward with excitement. One of the many things I am thankful for is to be back at DCS with the amazing team of staff, parents, and community members of our town and beyond.
The week before the Winter Break we had lots of fun. We went on a Candy Cane walk through the woods, and had our annual Round Robin Craft Day. As I have mentioned, this is the most wonderful morning as students move through various stations organized by Miss VIcki! The joy students demonstrate as they are focused upon creating their treasures is so lovely. This day ended with the Reader's Theater presented by the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students! Such a special day!
Enjoy this weekend's snow, better late than never, Nicole
The ConVal School District is proud to announce the launch of a new, advanced website to further strengthen communications with parents and community stakeholders. The website update offers users an array of innovative features, including an easy way to toggle between school and district news, an online calendar showing school and district events in one integrated view, as well as one-button access to frequently used items like meal menus, online payments, and the PowerSchool parent portal. Designed with a mobile-first approach in mind, the website can be downloaded to smartphones as a secure app. ConVal's Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Rizzo Saunders noted: "The new website marks a significant improvement that allows us to communicate more effectively with the public and provides new opportunities to engage parents in our school communities." The website is set to go live officially on January 5.
Plastic Recycling- we need your help to make this more efficient.
This week, we were able to recycle 21pounds of plastic! That is amazing, but it required a tremendous amount of work for our volunteer Penny King. She had to go through all the plastic to ensure it was actually recyclable through this program. As you can see from the above image there are many types of plastic (we can take pellet bags as well) that we can recycle but there are also many that we cannot. Please help us by checking that the plastic you are sending in can actually be recycled through this program. Also, no plastic that has already been recycled can be part of this project. Otherwise, you can bring it to the Dublin Transfer Station. Thank you!!
