PTA Grant
Thank you to the Renner MS PTA and Mr. Brian Bunker for creating an eco-friendly garden outside of the library. This is a space that really needed some beautification and a great way to create a garden for students to enjoy. The PTA awarded the library a grant to purchase plants and mulch. Mr. Bunker planted 46 this plants this past weekend. We love our PTA and volunteers! If you have anything that you would like to add to this space, please contact Mrs. Pedigo.
The November reading challenge is focused around NonFiction November! Students are encouraged to read 5 books for this challenge. Students that complete the challenge will be awarded a special pancake party in the library on Dec 12. Our 7th graders are leading the way on this challenge!!! Way to go 7th graders. I would love to have 50 students complete this by Dec 5.
Plano ISD Digital Books
Great news! Student access to Sora will be restored on October 20th! 🎉
Principals emailed a letter to families about the new parent features, including how parents can block specific titles if they choose.
Parents can visit Library Parent Options webpage for step-by-step instructions to view the books or to create a do not read list.

Parent Options
This is just a reminder that you can find out more information about parent options for the library on the Plano ISD website.
Plano Public Library
September is Library Card Month! Stop by the Plano Public Library to get a library card. More information can be found here: https://www.plano.gov/805/Get-a-Library-Card-Borrowing
Library Visits
All 6th grade students have visited the library this year. 7th and 8th grade students will visit beginning on September 9th. In middle school, students are allowed to check out 3 books for 3 weeks. We encourage all students to have a self-selected book for reading time in class.
Students are welcome to visit the library before and after school! I usually average about 80 students in the library before school for reading, checking out books, studying, and working on group projects.
Books Fees
Plano ISD does not charge a fine for books being returned late. However, they do charge a fee for lost or damaged books. Starting in October, students that owe for a lost or damaged book will see this fee added to the district online payment system. Parents can make payments for these items online. Students in six grade that lost a book in elementary school will still have that fee on their account. If the book is found and returned, then the fee will be removed. If you have questions about your child's library account, please ask them to show you their LS2 app on their student chromebook or you can see the account through the Family Access. If you have further questions, then please reach out to Mrs. Pedigo at angela.pedigo@pisd.edu
