Junior High Super Cedars of the Month
Each month in the Lebanon Junior High Tribune, students from each team are recognized as students of the month. Two students (one 7th grader and one 8th grader) who have shown Respect, Excellence, and Purpose and gone above and beyond will be recognized as Cedars of the Month. Their pictures and bios will be proudly posted for the following month in the display cases at school. We look forward to honoring our students and their excellence!
Congratulations to our Super Cedars for the month of December!!

Important School Code Update Regarding Weapons
The important information shared below has also been shared in our school district newsletter with families. In the event you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us directly in the school office at 717-273-3515. Our goal, as always, is to provide safety and security for all students and staff. We are sharing this information proactively to make all families aware.
As the result of a recent Act passed by the State (Act 44), beginning in January, school districts will be required to notify parents/guardians whenever a weapon is found on school property. We are sharing this information proactively so that, should such a situation arise, families are aware of this requirement and are not surprised by future communications.
In the spirit of transparency, please note that the term weapon is defined in Board Policy 218 as any implement capable of inflicting serious bodily injury. This definition is intentionally broad and may include items not traditionally thought of as weapons, such as box cutters, utility knives, or everyday objects that could cause harm if misused or modified.
In the past, when a student was found in possession of such an item, the district followed the protocols outlined in Board Policy 218 (i.e. notify the local police, authorities, etc.). Beginning in January, parents/guardians will also now receive notification when these incidents occur.
Our commitment remains focused on maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.
LJH Attendance Reminders
We want to see students in school everyday! As we have progressed throughout the year, we will; of course, run into sickness and illness. If your child is absent from school, please remember that a note must be sent into school or an e-mail must be sent no more than three days after your child returns to school. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Sellers in the attendance office.
Mid-Year Testing - IXL and CDT
Later this month, all students at the the Junior High will take an IXL Diagnostic Test on a program we use called IXL in both English Language Arts, Math, and Science. They will also take a CDT (Classroom Diagnostic Tool) test in each subject, which will additionally help them prepare for the layout and system for our state PSSA tests in April. Each of these is used to identify specific strength areas, as well as specific skills that each individual student can improve on. Please encourage your child to do their best so we can best influence and guide their learning in a positive direction. As a reminder, there is no summer school this upcoming year, so it is important all students try their best. We will use the data from student testing to provide additional academic support for students in need.
LJH/CISPA Movie Event
We are excited to present our LJH Movie Event in collaboration with CISPA (Communities in Schools PA). Please note the time change - we are planning to have the event right after school! Parents, please talk to your child and stay with them right after dismissal. Snacks, drinks, and gift card give aways included (parent must be present to win gift card). All parents will enter through the main entrance. We will be showing the movie "Cool Runnings" to prepare for this winter's upcoming Olympic Games in a great story of perseverance and goal setting!
End of Marking Period 2
It is hard to believe we are close to halfway through the school year, as our second marking period will be ending in a few weeks. Please check your child's grades on PowerSchool throughout the marking period and encourage them to do their best, setting them up for success!! The final day of the second marking period will be Friday, January 16th. If you have questions or need help getting connected to PowerSchool, please contact us in the main office at 717-273-3515.
Inclement Weather Reminder
As we know, it is the time of year where we will have cold weather with some potential ice and/or snow. Please make sure your information is up to date in our system with correct phone numbers. In the event of a delay or a canceled day of school, you will receive a text/phone call with that information. In addition, you will be able to receive any updates via the district's Facebook page.
