2026-27 Band Event Calendar
Here is where you can find every event throughout the school year. If an event is italicized or in red, the details have not yet been confirmed. We will also send out the parent letters that are attached to each event through email as well as through a physical letter that your students will take home to you at least 2 weeks in advance. You can also add our Google Calendar to yours.
Practice-a-thon Fundraiser Begins! - September 4th
The money we raise goes right back to our students in the form of:
- Non-UIL Festival Entry Fees
- Instructional Specialists
- Guest Artists
- Transportation to events/festivals
- Equipment & supplies
- Lesson Scholarships
- Music
- Guest Clinicians
We will also have a practice-a-thon social event which will consist of 3 hours from 6-9pm on Friday, October 2nd. Students will practice individually or in small groups for 30-minute increments.
Wilson Jazz Band - First Rehearsal this Friday! - September 11th
Wilson Jazz
The first Wilson Jazz rehearsal will take place this Friday from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. If a student is unable to attend but would like to be part of the jazz band, please inform Mr.Cavazos (email david.cavazos@pisd.edu) to get the information that will be discussed at the first rehearsal. Jazz band is available to any Wilson Band member in Concert, Symphonic, or Wind Ensemble. Beginning Band members: contact Mr. Cavazos if interested as involvement for beginners is determined on a case by case basis.
All-Region Masterclasses - September 18th
Applies to all Wind Ensemble Members and any interested Symphonic Band Members.
This event is a chance for students to receive instruction from master teachers on the etudes they are learning for the all-region auditions that take place later this semester. This event will be held at Wilson MS from 5-7pm with a pizza dinner provided in the last 30 minutes. See the attached parent letter for more details.
Central Cluster Marching Exhibition - September 30th
Required for all Concert, Symphonic, & Wind Ensemble Members
Students will need to wear their band shirts to this event. They can wear either black shorts or jeans. Students will also need to bring their own flip folder and lyre to play. Students are highly encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottle to this event while watching the marching shows in the stands. Please view the parent letter for more details.
Parents are encouraged to attend to watch this event to see the HS marching shows and their own students perform Paint it Black and The Hey Song alongside all of the Central Cluster Bands!
First Pep Rally! - October 2nd
Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Ensemble Members
Please ensure your student has their flip folder, lyre, and their band shirt for this event! The pep rally will be during our Rams Rising time between 12:45-1:30pm on October 2nd.
All-Region Entry Deadline - October 6th
Wind Ensemble & Interested Symphonic Band Families
All-Region auditions are required for all Wind Ensemble members. Please note that this entry fee is covered by the Wilson Band - you do not need to pay anything for this audition entry. If your student has an unmovable conflict, please email me directly to let me know the conflict details. I will need to enter students by October 6th and want to make sure entries are accurate to who will be attending the auditions. Phase I auditions are on Saturday, November 14th (times TBD) and Phase II auditions are on Tuesday, November 17th (times TBD). Please email me if your Wind Ensemble student is unable to attend these auditions or if your Symphonic Band student is interested in auditioning and is available on these dates. Thank you!
