It is incredible to think that it is officially the beginning of the LAST MONTH of the 2025/26 School Year!!! I made a comment at our School Council Meeting last week that you would think that the end of the year would be the time to wind down our activities but that is most definitely not the case.

In this weeks edition of the Pacer Pulse, we are excited to share how our Junior Track Athletes did at GYACs, the excitement of our Physics 30 - Math 31 Edmonton Field Trip, students volunteering at Mary Bergeron's annual Sports Day, our 9-12 FRIM students partook in a French Theatre performance, and our Pacers took part in Parkland's Annual Community Day! To start us off, on Saturday, Parkland played host location to the annual Eddie's Big Run (17th Year) where racers of all ages participated in distances as far as 10km, 5km, 3km, and a Kids Fun 1km Run. It was fantastic to see so many Parkland Staff Volunteer at the event (including Mr. Arsenault, Mrs. Gohmann, Mrs. Bencz, and our incredible janitor Matt) in addition to so many Pacer Staff and their families partaking in the runs! Mrs. Downing and Mrs. Fossheim even won Best Costume awards!

As we are moving closer to our year end exams, a very important reminder that ever class is essential to ensure student success in courses. Attendance Matters! Missed instructional time is missed opportunities to refine your skills and get your remaining assignments in to successfully complete your classes. A very important reminder to all students that have exams prior to the designated exam week, that classes are continuing after your exam is complete. Students that are using additional time in their exam will be supported with their missed learning when they return to class, but it is expected that students are attending their classes once they finish. Instruction is still ongoing and we want to make sure that our students have the opportunity to prepare the best they can for their final exams.

Please take note of when your Pacer has exams to wrap up the year. It is important to note that students are required to attend their scheduled exams and all regular classes until exam week. Best exam preparation practice includes starting early with review and connecting with your teachers if you need any additional help preparing for your exams. Don't forget, we run Study Hall every day at Lunch (with either Andersen or Bencz, depending on the day)!

On top of two very busy kiddos, our family also has three cats and two dogs. Our youngest addition, Kalea, is most definitely a country pup, but she has been training to be on the leash and join me for walks as of late! Here, she is pictured fresh out of the McLeod River in Willmore. She is a giant sweetheart!

Our Grades 9-12 French Immersion students traveled to Edmonton on Friday to take in the play BUANDERIE / BOULANGERIE at L’UniThéâtre!

Students thoroughly enjoyed the performance and enjoyed a meal together, of which staff commented on how lovely our students were. Thank you for being such an incredible reflection of our Parkland community!

Finally, students enrolled in Physics 30 and Math 31 (ie. Calculus) together went to Edmonton last Monday to attend the University of Alberta to participate in science demonstrations on campus, met with professors, and had a personal tour. Our Pacers were brimming with excitement upon their return, rejuvenated for their future career pathways! Thank you Mr. Andersen and Mrs. Dickson for your organization of this incredible opportunity.

Mr. Zimmerman started teaching in Laché la Biche and taught in Red Deer for 4 years. He has taught every subject except math and science. PCHS Community Day 2026

Last Wednesday was Parkland's annual Community Day - a day where our Pacer Community gives back to the community that helps to support their in their academic endeavors! You may have seen our Pacers out and about participating in various community service projects. From beautifying and cleaning the town, to reaching out to our seniors and elementary school, to chopping FREE FIREWOOD for the community, everyone worked hard and had fun giving back to our town. Way to go, Pacers!
