The Sheiko Weekly Update
Sheiko Elementary: November 14, 2025
PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Hi Sheiko Families,
We had another wonderful week of learning at Sheiko Elementary. I wanted to share some great resources with you from Anna Twitty and the West Bloomfield Library that were shared at our PTO meeting. We can't encourage our students enough to read, read, read, and read some more!
Here is the presentation that Ms. Twitty gave at the PTO meeting with information on the Winter Reading Program. Here is a link to the Reading Programs resource page on the library's website. This page has very helpful tutorials on navigating Beanstack!
Here is a link to the Staff Picks page. This page provides great reader advisory for caregivers/kids who don't know what to read next.
Here is a link to the Library's Calendar for the Winter Reading Kick Off Event. Kick Off is on December 6th from 10 AM-12 PM. The Pokemon themed crafts and activities should be really fun! Registration is not required.
Here is a link to the "Get a library card" page for residents of West Bloomfield Township, Orchard Lake, Keego Harbor, and Sylvan Lake to get a library card easily. Reminder that if a child goes to a West Bloomfield School, they qualify for a library card regardless of home address!
This week's "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" is about our volunteer day tomorrow, November 15th from 1-3 p.m. at the Farmington Hills Nature Center. This will be a wonderful family event! The flyer is in the newsletter with a QR code for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Goooooooooooooo Lakers!

KIDS IN CHARGE
The Kids in Charge* (KIC) program is offered in all West Bloomfield School District elementary schools to children from 1st to 5th grade. Students are educated about the dangers and health risks of cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. Apart from teaching kids the hazards of these substances, they are also instructed on how to effectively, assertively, and confidently say no to peer pressure. Students also learn about coping skills and safe & trusted adults. The KIC program has helped significantly reduce drug use rates throughout West Bloomfield.
LOST & FOUND
Our Lost & Found is FULL. Please remind your student to please check to see if anything belongs to them. All parents & guardians are welcome to come and take a look as well.
All items will be donated on Monday, December 1st.
DESIGN A BUTTON
United We Walk - Enter the Button Contest!
Attention WBSD Students! Design this year's button from your understanding of the theme One Dream, One World, One Walk. Students must include the “United We Walk 2026” between the margins. Deadline is December 1. More information here.
We always welcome parents/guardians to drop off lunch for their student. However, we will not accept food deliveries for students from vendors. This is a safety issue. If food is delivered from a vendor, your student can pick it up from the office at the end of the school day.
Thank you.
BUS ZONE APP
Track Your Route!
- The Bus Zone App is available for iOS, Android and web and allows families to track their student(s) bus along its route, to and from school. Families will need to have their student(s) ID numbers which are available in PowerSchool in order to log into the app and create an account. Check out the transportation page for details.
- As a safety protocol, the Bus Zone app will only allow families to see their student(s) bus route(s) only.
- Please download and complete the app: Apple App Store and Google Play
Sheiko has a donation box located right outside the main office.
