Principal's Message and Nichols Updates
As we move into the spring season, our students will be participating in California’s state assessments. All students in grades 3–6 during the weeks of April 27-May 1st and May 4-May 8th. These assessments give us important information about how well students are mastering grade-level standards in English language arts and mathematics. They also help our school reflect on our instructional practices, celebrate areas of growth, and identify where we can better support student learning moving forward.
Families play an important role in helping students feel confident and prepared. Here are a few simple ways you can support your child:
- Prioritize rest and routines: Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and arrives at school on time each day.
- Encourage a positive mindset: Remind your child to take their time, try their best, and not worry about being perfect.
- Provide a healthy start: A nutritious breakfast and encouraging words in the morning can go a long way in helping students feel ready to learn.
- Ensure students are at school on time and stay all day: Students who start their day on time and stay all day are able to follow the routines at school that help bring success. Please schedule any appointments outside this testing window.
We appreciate your partnership as we support every student in showing what they know and can do.
Parent Power Hour
Love Lodi is Loving Nichols
Volunteers are needed to clean out empty garden areas outside of the TK classrooms and place flower pots and planters. The area needs to be raked and cleared of weeds, pots and planters placed and mulch added to surround new plants. Volunteers will also clean up and trim other landscaping and spread mulch. Volunteers will need to bring gardening tools such as rakes, shovels, wheel barrows, and work gloves. This project needs a leader. If you are interested in leading please contact us at projects@lovelodi.org
Love Lodi Day 2026 begins with a pre-project rally at 8:00am at Hutchins Street Square! Volunteers will meet their project leaders at their project locations at 9:00am to begin work. Upon completions of the projects, volunteers are invited to return to Hutchins Street Square to enjoy a complimentary lunch at our Love Lodi Community Picnic and Non Profit Fair. In order to ensure everyone has plenty of time to complete their projects, lunch will be served from 12:00pm-2:00pm. We look forward to seeing you at Love Lodi 2026!
