PBIS

  • At HMS we support all students in following our schoolwide expectations and we implement strategies from the PBIS program (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support). Students will be exposed to a variety of “Whippur Way Lessons” throughout the school year so we can all follow our PAWS.

  • Physical contact of any kind will not be tolerated. Incidents of physical contact and bullying carry strict, immediate consequences following District 300 Student Discipline Policies, up to and including suspension from transportation services and school.

  • Parents, guardians and students should be familiar with the D300 handbook.

A Message from the HMS Student Services Team

Greetings HMS Parents and Guardians! As we head into week 4, we wanted to share some information with you about test anxiety! What is Test Anxiety? Test anxiety is a feeling of nervousness, stress, or anxiety related to test taking that usually results in an inability to perform well. Studies show that test anxiety affects 10-40% of students; therefore, it is important to identify signs associated with test anxiety. Some of these signs include: asking to stay home, stomach aches or headaches before or during a test, trouble sleeping before a test, and low test grades even though the student clearly knows and understands the content. Knowing these signs can help you take a proactive approach in helping your student feel confident and calm while taking their test. Some test-taking strategies to teach your students include: read the directions carefully, underline or circle important information, cross out answers you know aren’t right, and double check your answers. Please utilize this resource if your student is anxious for an upcoming test.

Kindly, The HMS Student Services Team

NAMI’s goal is to ensure that individuals, friends, and families have access to the tools, resources, and support they need to talk openly about suicide prevention, recognize warning signs, and seek help.
Check out NAMI’s website for more information: NAMI
September 10, 2026 is World Suicide Prevention Day. Students may display teal and purple clothing, ribbons, or pins to start open conversations and reduce the stigma around mental health.

This message is to notify you that Hampshire Middle School will conduct lockdown drills this month.

During the lockdown drill, students and staff will practice the protective actions they would take should a lockdown occur on the school campus. The upcoming drill is an important part of our emergency preparedness plan, helping students and staff practice safety procedures relevant to a lockdown.

Our schools regularly conduct such drills to prepare everyone for potential emergencies.
