Mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health. We’re on a mission to help you prioritize it, every single day. Simple, daily check-ins can support long-term mental wellbeing. Small, mindful actions add up. Start taking small steps toward better mental wellbeing by checking off one, some or all of the items from this checklist each day!
The National Center for Rural School Mental Health supports rural schools in identifying, preventing, and intervening with mental health concerns in children. Their website contains resources for evaluating the cost of interventions, professional development, and interventions aligned to need and Tier of support. The Interventions Hub provides a directory of school-based mental health inventions related to seven domains of common mental health risk factors, including attention/academic issues, peer relationship problems, externalities and internalizing behaviors, emotional dysregulation, school engagement, and bullying. This directory can be searched by risk factor, grade level (elementary, middle, or high school), and across three tiers. Additionally, there is a Cost Calculator feature that provides a resource to calculate costs of your school’s programs to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health and make the most of your current plans.
Feel Your Best Self (FYBS) based out of University of Connecticut is an evidence-informed program designed to make learning about emotions fun and accessible. Rooted in the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, FYBS centers around 12 emotional regulation strategies that can be separated into three categories: Calm Your Self, Catch Your Feelings, and Connect with Others. FYBS is aimed at children from kindergarten through elementary school and can be used in schools, at home, or in the community. Their website contains a toolkit of resources such as videos, lesson plans, and materials for activities that can be implemented into social-emotional learning activities at the class wide level, or used as an intervention by mental health professionals.

A huge shout out to Jenna Stiner (Dean of Students) and Eric Bowden (School Counselor) who led the “charge” in the COLONIALS TAKE CHARGE videos.
