Good morning. This will be my last Mustang Minutes of the year. I will be handing this off to Mr. Tom Brinkman as he takes over my current position over the Summer. Thank you for the community support over the past four years. My role will change but my passion for celebrating ALL of our kids will not.

LATEST UPDATES

We will have weekly updates on progress and celebrations on the More Than a Field project. The Raymond Central Community Foundation is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization ran by volunteers. This is a separate entity from Raymond Central Public Schools.

New News

  • Net systems have been hung. 2 of 3 need to be finalized yet but much needed rain will delay that for now. Thank you to Mike Schultz, Jerry Serrano and Derek Matulka for helping with the installation.
  • 65 rolls of turf were delivered. Base and drainage needs to be installed before turf can be rolled out. That will start in a couple of weeks.
  • The chain link fence is complete. The dugout floors have been poured.
  • Installation of the turf field will begin in a couple weeks as the contractor is finishing another job and then ours is next. Turf rolls will be delivered this week.
  • Full fence perimeter has been installed and the perimeter curb is being place. The curb will be what the turf connects to. As you enter the site you can see the full scope of the phase 1 field.
  • Tucker Maxson of Maxson Welding has secured materials and is fabricating our roof tops for the in ground dugouts with our Welding students to enhance our learning and connect learning with industry.
  • Site Drainage has been completed by Nebraska Septic. There are a few things to finish once other items are completed but drainage is established.
  • Backstop poles were installed last week and the rest of the fence will come in this week.Turf is scheduled to begin installation in mid-May.
  • Special thank you to the following for helping install the backstop poles through labor or use of equipment. I apologize if I miss anyone. Thank you Brad Jelinek, Jeff Kliment, Jerry Serrano, Dan Watkins, Derek Matulka, Michael Schultz, Andy Cotter, Jared Shanahan, Richard Novak, Chris Sabatka, Kole Keespies of USS/Empire, Nathan Lee Concrete, United Rentals, Kurt Ohnoutka, Mark Masek and Laura Tvrdy.
  • Thank you to Channel 8 News. They reached out after seeing the progress on Facebook and did a nice job helping tell our story.
  • In ground Dugouts are being installed and will be followed by site drainage and fencing. Special thanks to Ian Heimes Foundations, Kyle Lubischer and Tucker Maxson for the help they are providing to reduce the cost of this MAJOR upgrade to our facility.
  • We are working with Great Plains Nursery and the NRD to plan proper landscaping and tree coverage for future shade and beautification of the site.
  • The entry building construction has begun with the help of our Construction class as well as Tom Rezac and Brian Caha helping teach our students how to lay concrete and build a building.

Old News

  • The school board approved a lease purchase option for this project. TO BE CLEAR, this lease purchase is not to fund the project by the school. It allows our foundation to extend donations and sponsorships over the course over a few years. This allows us to have a business commit to a total amount and spread the payments over 3-5 years. The FOUNDATION is responsible for the payments on the lease purchase and ONLY funds that have a contract will be allowed to be drawn. The total lease purchase amount may not ever get used. This gives the foundation flexibility to move forward with the project and allow sponsors to spread payments over a few years.
  • Phase 1 of the project is still being funded without the use of taxpayer dollars. We are very proud of this fact.
  • We have passed the $2 million mark in funds and support raised for the project. The $2 million includes investment commitments, individual/family donations, business sponsorships, fundraising efforts, grants and donated in-kind services. The original quoted cost of phase one was $6.3 million. We are now at a point that we will be able to complete phase 1 for under $2 million.
  • The new driveway is fully operational. Take an opportunity to drive on it. The drive has multiple curves to keep speed down.
  • The rock parking lots have been installed and already showed their benefits at big events.
  • The Donor Tile Wall has been installed. Thank you to TMCO for donating this portion so all of the family and individual donations could go straight to the project. Didn't get a chance to get your name on it? You still can even after installation!
