A Note from Mrs. Pitts

Dear RES Families,

Thank you for all of the support you have provided as we transition into the new school year. We do appreciate your patience as our staff begins to learn all they can about each student and family. This does take time and teachers are having conversations with their colleagues and with me to gain as much information and knowledge as possible. We believe that each school year is a new beginning and we never want to limit our students' possibilities. Therefore, these first several weeks of school allow our teachers time to get to know students as they are right now...this year. RES has incredible retention, the majority of teachers here have been teaching for many years. They are here because they love what they do and they are completely invested in caring for their students and supporting our families. We are really enjoying this period of adjustment and getting to know the 2025-2026 students of RES:)

Warmly,

Michelle Pitts

I wanted to point out the following language from the media release form on PowerSchool and highlight our approach to this form.

Message on PowerSchool

Media Release*

In our SAU, we celebrate and showcase student learning! We often share photos or videos of classroom and extracurricular activities on our school publications, website and social media pages, in order to showcase our activities to our community. Photos and videos typically do not also include first and last names, unless the student is being recognized for a specific accomplishment. If you have specific concerns or questions about the use of your child’s photo or name being shared, please contact your school principal. To opt out, please select the appropriate choice below:

Yes, I give permissionNo, I do not want my child's photograph posted on the school website or social media accounts

IMPORTANT: If a family checks "no," teachers may still take or use student photos in Seesaw, and other applications as desired. However, we may NOT post the student's photo & name on social media or the school websites.

Example 1- Principal sends a weekly email to all parents, that is also posted on the school website. A photo posted in this type of publication would require permission from the parent.

Example 2 - A teacher would like to post a picture of a student working in their classroom in Seesaw. This would be permitted, as it would not be on the school website or any social Media accounts. (Facebook, instagram, Snap chat, Bluesky, Threads, Twitter, MySpace etc)

After reading this specific language, if your family has a specific request about pictures, please email the principal and classroom teacher.

THANK YOU!

DISMISSAL TIME DISMISSAL TIME

  • As you may have noticed, our dismissal process is a little different this year. We are working to ensure the safety of our students who are walking to their cars by holding all vehicles until the first three rows are filled. When those 9 cars have their children, the lines will move to allow the next nine cars to fill in. Because we are working to do this systematically, it is very important that cars are ready to move once their student(s) are inside. We understand that some kiddos may need some help with buckling in their car seats; however, this delay can hold up our dismissal process. We kindly ask that, if your child needs some extra time or your help in buckling, that you still pull out with the other cars when directed. You may use the space long the fence or the parking spots at the soccer field to safely buckle your child before exiting onto Sagamore Road.

  • Please do all you can to coordinate children entering and exiting vehicles on the school side of the car. We are trying to avoid walking children in front of cars as much as possible!

  • In regards to securing our drop off and dismissal process, please remember that if you are walking or riding in with your child you must stay outside of the Tide Pool Playground. This includes the bike racks and class lines on the concrete. This eliminates any confusion over who is in this area and ensures that our staff can do their job without distraction. We have lots of staff available to support your child in racking their bike or if the goodbye is a little difficult on any particular day, and we truly appreciate your trust that we can take over once you have delivered your child to us.

As part of the CHILDFIND services, the school districts of SAU 50 offer a free developmental screening for all preschool children residing in the towns of Greenland, New Castle, Newington, and Rye. This screening is available to children between three and five years of age and is designed to identify preschoolers with special needs that may result in an educational disability as defined by the New Hampshire Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities. Child Find dates this school year are October 3rd and April 3rd.

introducing Mr. Russo (again)

For those of you who do not know Mr. Russo, he is our Technology Director for SAU 50. He has been a great help this week as we troubleshooted our STAR assessment administration and helped clarify some of our district technology forms for teachers and parents. We are so appreciative of his dedication to our district and his ability to fly over to RES when needed!

Keep it Simple!

If you haven't noticed, many staff members are wearing pins that say "Keep it Simple." This is a reminder of the anchor that will guide our work this year. This is an acronym that highlights our focus on providing student-driven, inclusive, meaningful, positive, limitless and enriching instruction to all students.

Thank you, Mr. Ross!

For those of you who have seen our fish tank in our front lobby, we have Mr. Ross to thank! This summer, the fish tank faced some challenges and Mr. Ross spent countless hours travelling to pet stores, measuring the nitrates in the tank and more. We are so thankful for his dedication because this fish tank serves as a stop for so many of our students each and every day!
