Principal's Message
Hola Scotties!
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! From September 15 through October 15 (and beyond), our students and teachers are honoring the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino cultures through diverse classroom lessons, art projects, and school-wide activities.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our very first Cafecito! We deeply appreciate your active participation, thoughtful engagement, and valuable feedback regarding PPS Rightsizing efforts. In addition, your ideas on how we can highlight Hispanic Heritage Month in our upcoming monthly assembly were incredibly helpful, and we look forward to bringing those suggestions to life.
Speaking of assemblies, our students and staff had an absolute blast at our first assembly of the year last week! We proudly celebrated our students who consistently demonstrate our core school value of inclusion, raised our voices together for the school song, and recognized several students for their outstanding and improved attendance. To top it all off, we had tons of fun playing a lively game featuring our Scottie Paw winners and teachers.
Please take note of a couple of important upcoming dates for your calendar:
Tuesday, October 1: Picture Day (bring those big smiles!)
Friday, October 9: No School (State In-Service Day)
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in making our school community such a vibrant place to learn and grow.
Warmly,
Tiana Ahmann

Student Medications Protocol
Hello!
Please reach out to the health room if your student carries any medication in their backpack. This includes rescue medications like an inhaler or EpiPen, over-the-counter medications such as pain relievers (e.g., ibuprofen), lactaid, cold/cough medicine, etc., and prescription medications.
By law, rescue medication is allowed to be carried by any student regardless of age, but all other medications need to be checked in at the health room. If your child carries rescue medication, please let Ana or me know, and we'll have you fill out a form authorizing your child to carry it on them or in their backpack. This helps us know what medications are circulating in the school, for everyone's safety.
Thank you!"
Warmly,

🌈Rainbow Scotties Update🌈
Hello Rainbow Scotties!
We postponed our first meeting in hopes of getting more families on board, but we are planning to meet on Tuesday, October 13. We'll be in the library by 5:30, we'll have snacks and kids' activities available, and we really hope to see you there! Reach out if you have questions, or just show up on 10/13.
Rightsizing Engagement Opportunities
As the district works through the process of rightsizing and considering school closures, consolidations and restructuring, it is important that our community stakeholders have a voice in the process. I strongly recommend that everyone attend at least one engagement opportunity to share your experiences, thoughts and values related to the rightsizing efforts. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about this process and sharing feedback with Portland Public Schools.

Rightsizing FAQ
Hello PPS community,
Many of you have submitted questions regarding PPS’s Rightsizing initiative. We have posted updated answers and will continue to update our FAQ page. This is also the place where you can submit additional questions, and we will work to answer those as well.
As we move forward, the Rightsizing web page will be your one-stop place for information, such as opportunities to engage, school board meetings and more.
