Quigley Bus Services’ new bus tracking app, Stopfinder, will be released to our district families on Thursday, December 4th.
The app replaces Here Comes the Bus and integrates with the transportation’s bus routing system and new GPS equipment to provide up-to-the-minute information to families. Quigleys has completed training and multiple pilots with the application to provide a smooth transition for our users – including a building-wide pilot with Washington Elementary. The pilots included user feedback, system updates, and collaboration with the vendor and district personnel in preparation for the 4th.

The invitations will be addressed from Stopfinder no-reply@stopfinder.com and arrive throughout the day on December 4th. It is important to note that your email service provider may forward messages from unrecognized email addresses to your junk/spam/trash folders. Based on the internal and external pilot programs, we do know that this has happened to some of our participants. We kindly ask that you please always check these folders for Stopfinder information before reaching out to Quigley for additional support.

Invitations will ONLY be sent to Priority 1 and Priority 2 contacts within Infinite Campus.
Those contacts can then share the service with others. HOWEVER, neither the district nor Quigley will be able to invite other student contacts to the program for safety and security reasons. The invitations will include specific instructions on signing up for the service and sharing with others.

Quigley will ask you to follow this protocol when asking for help with the application registration process:

If you are a Priority 1 or 2 student-contact in IC AND, you have checked those email folder locations, AND it is later than 9 AM on Friday,December 5th, AND you have not received your invitation to sign up for the app, please notify Quigley Bus Service via email to transportation@boyertownasd.org. Please remember, all district families will receive their invitations to this service on the same day. We ask that you allow up to 3-5 business days for a response.

There is NOTHING for you to do NOW, and Quigley cannot add users to the system before the 4th. You will receive additional reminders from BASD regarding this rollout in the coming days, all leading up to your invitation on the 4th. Please stay tuned!

    • BASD has the ability to utilize 5 flexible instruction days each year in the event that inclement weather or another emergency should create a need to cancel school at some point during the school year. Students will be provided with directions on how to access their assignments should an FID day need to be used during the school year. Please note that there are no snow days built into the district calendar this year.

If you are picking your children up at dismissal time for parent pick up, please do not get into the line until 3pm. Thank you for your cooperation.

Attendance Request Reminders...

On August 20th, we shared a message with our families regarding new attendance reporting procedures through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. We are happy to report that the transition to the new reporting platform has gone smoothly, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation!

We have a few reminders that will help simplify the process for all of you.

1. Please report ALL Absence Requests through the IC Parent Portal including full day absences, late arrivals, leaving early, and Educational Trip Requests.

2. An Absence Reason is REQUIRED when completing the Absence Request. In order for the request to be coded accurately, the reason for the absence must be SPECIFIC. The reason should be entered in the comment section.

2. An Absence Request for an Educational Trip REQUIRES TWO STEPS. The first is the submission of the Absence Request in Infinite Campus. The second is completion of the Educational Trip Form. Your Educational Trip Request CANNOT be approved until BOTH steps are completed.

3. When submitting an Absence Request for leaving early, please indicate the name of the person who will be picking up the student in the comments field. This information is REQUIRED for our security processes.

Thank you for your attention to this important update. We appreciate your cooperation!

News from the Nurse

Welcome to 2026! We hope you and your families had a restful break and were able to recharge with family and friends! As we resume classes:

  • Please send your student(s) to school each day with appropriate shoes and outdoor attire (coat, hat, gloves). Students will be outside for recess as much as the cold weather will allow. Crocs and slipper-type shoes are discouraged, and not appropriate for PE class and running outside!
  • Please send your student(s) to school each day with a refillable water bottle. Water refilling stations are also available in the school hallways.
  • Please encourage your student(s) to apply lip ointment and hand lotions at home. They may also bring their own lip ointment and hand lotion to school as long as they are not sharing these items.

Requesting Health Room Donations:

  • New - Boys underwear (sizes 6-8, sizes 8-10, sizes 10-12).
  • New or Gently Used - Unisex sweatpants (sizes 6-8, sizes 8-10, sizes 10-12).

Some Tips to Keep Your Kids Healthy During Cold and Flu Season:

  • Wash Your Hands: Teach your children the importance of covering their mouth and nose when they cough or sneeze, to keep germs from spreading, and frequent handwashing with soap and water!
  • Get Active: Indoors or outdoors! Kids should get regular, moderate exercise to boost their immune systems. Studies have shown that being active can help reduce cold and flu episodes.
  • Get plenty of sleep: Children need between 9 and 14 hours of sleep a day depending on their age. Sleep deprivation can weaken the immune system and increase the risk of getting sick.
  • Eat a well-balanced diet: Provide meals with plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables to help boost children’s immune systems. Look for foods rich in vitamin C and vitamin D. Avoid sugary and processed foods.
  • Decrease stress: Elevated stress hormones can lead to decreased immunity. Give kids plenty of down time for rest and creative play to help lower their stress levels and keep them from getting sick.
  • Avoid germy sharing: Sharing is good for kids, but many commonly shared items can be breeding grounds for germs. Teach children to never share straws and cups, caps and scarves, or anything that comes in contact with their mouths and faces.
  • Clean Surfaces Regularly: Studies have shown that the flu virus can live and potentially infect a person for up to 48 hours after landing on a surface. Germs often grow on multiple surfaces, such as doorknobs, toys, or countertops. Regularly sanitize these surfaces.
  • Keep Your Kids Home When They Are Sick: Does your child have an elevated temperature (100°F or higher)? Do they have a questionable rash? Are they acting unusually today? If the answer is “yes,” it is probably best to keep your child home from school and contact your pediatrician. Make sure they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medications before returning to school.

If you have any questions, please contact the health room nurses!

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

As a reminder, parents/guardians are required to provide written notification to the school for each day their child is not in attendance. Absences shall be treated as unlawful until the district receives a written excuse explaining the absence, to be submitted within three (3) days of the absence. The district will not change the attendance code for written notifications received after (3) three days.

Throughout the summer, Boyertown Area School District has worked to streamline the absence reporting process for all stakeholders. Parents and guardians can now complete an absence request through their Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. The Infinite Campus Absence Request feature has replaced the Google Attendance forms and can be used for absences, late arrivals, early departures, and to begin the educational trip request process. This Absence Request Video shows you how to complete the IC Absence Request process.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MRS. DERENZO

This is a reminder that if you call the office to inform us that you will be picking

up your child in car line instead of using bus transportation, that call must be made

before noon. There are calls coming in late in the day that present challenges for office

and car line staff, too. We want to make sure we help your children get home safely.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
