Weekly Newsletter 5/15/26
Hello and happy Friday!
It was another great week at SCS. We're all looking forward to some warmer weather this week. It might be spring, but it hasn't really felt like it yet!
As I mentioned in my mid-week update, on Tuesday we let the students know about some staffing changes for next year. A number of our new teachers came to SCS this week to meet with teachers and visit classrooms to say Hello. At this time, we want to welcome the following teachers:
Alicia Moody --special educator
Sara Lesperance --academic interventionist
Skylar LaFerriere --physical education
Sarah Flynn --art
Kate Cunningham --chorus teacher and After School Program coordinator
All of these teachers have many years of experience and are highly skilled in their fields. We are sorry to see some of our teachers leaving, but feel confident we will have an excellent, cohesive and competent team of teachers and staff next year. The third grade teacher position has not yet been filled, but we are actively reviewing applications and meeting with candidates. Jenn Larocque will be moving from the classroom into an interventionist role at SCS next year.
On Monday, the full staff and I met with Superintendent Wendy Baker to reflect on the past year and start the important work of identifying what went well this year and where we have work to do to improve. The end of the year will provide opportunities for us to collaboratively build a shared vision with aligned practices and coordinated systems for communication, instruction, behavior response and stages of support. I will be reaching out to families in the coming weeks to share our take aways from the year and get your input on some of these focus areas. Thank you for being such valuable members of the SCS community and for your continued involvement in our work with your kids.
Have a great weekend and see you soon,
Tracey
