Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy Earns College Board AP School Honor Roll Platinum With Access Designation

FOREST PARK, Ill. — Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy (PMSA) has been named to the College Board’s 2025 AP School Honor Roll with the Platinum with Access designation, the highest level of national recognition for Advanced Placement (AP) programs.

This prestigious recognition honors schools that demonstrate exceptional success in preparing students for AP courses and exams while also expanding access to rigorous coursework for underserved and historically underrepresented students. Schools earning the Platinum with Access designation show that students from all backgrounds are participating in AP courses and succeeding at rates that reflect the school’s overall demographics.

“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of our belief that excellence and equity must go hand in hand,” said Dr. Jorge J Sanchez, principal of Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy. “Our students are rising to meet high expectations because they are supported by intentional systems, outstanding teaching, and a culture that truly believes advanced academic opportunities are for everyone.”

Earning Platinum status reflects the hard work, dedication and academic excellence of PMSA students, as well as the commitment and support of its teachers and staff. The recognition underscores PMSA’s ongoing mission to challenge and inspire students to reach their full potential.

At PMSA, first-generation college-bound students, students from low-income households, and students of color are gaining meaningful access to advanced coursework and the instructional supports necessary for success. This achievement reflects years of deliberate work to remove systemic barriers, align AP pathways, strengthen teaching and learning, and cultivate a schoolwide culture where advanced academic opportunities are viewed as attainable for every student.

“This distinction represents the kind of outcomes we are striving for across the district, which is rigorous instruction paired with intentional support so every student has access to opportunity,” said Superintendent Krish Mohip. “PMSA’s recognition demonstrates what is possible when high expectations, equity and strong instructional practices are aligned, and it serves as a model as we continue advancing college readiness and excellence throughout District 209.”

“The Platinum with Access designation validates the work we’ve been committed to for years,” Sanchez said. “As we look forward, we will continue expanding pathways, strengthening instruction and ensuring that every student sees themselves as capable of success at the highest academic levels.”

The recognition also aligns with the district’s broader focus on college readiness, instructional excellence and equitable outcomes across Proviso Township High School District 209. The achievement is a testament to the leadership of the PMSA administrative team, the dedication of its educators, and the determination of its students.
