CKH Reception for Self-Direction
Sheridan Middle School is proud to recognize a remarkable group of students who have recently been honored for exemplifying Capturing Kids' Hearts positive character trait of Self-Direction.
These students show initiative, take responsibility for their learning, and demonstrate the motivation to push themselves toward success. Their actions don't just benefit their own growth - they strengthen the positive culture and learning environment that makes Sheridan Middle School such a special place.
Thank you for leading by example and showing what it means to be self-directed learners and leaders! Keep up the incredible work!
Learning Spotlight
At Sheridan Middle School, great things are happening in Mrs. Bellomy's 8th grade ELA class! Students became detectives in a Crime Scene Investigation activity to strengthen their Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning (CER) skills. They examined clues, analyzed witness statements, and reviewed evidence from a fictional scene. Working in teams, they made claims, supported them with text evidence, and explained their thinking logically. This hands-on activity reinforced their ability to draw conclusions and justify ideas with text-supported arguments.
Staff Shoutout
We are proud to recognize our very own SMS Yellowjacket Rachel Campbell for being awarded the Susie Everett Women Equipped Academic Scholarship to assist her as she pursues a degree in education. Way to go Mrs. Campbell - keep up the great work!
Spectacular Singers!
Congratulations on being selected to participate in the All Region Choir!
A special thank you to Karissa Lindsey, SMS Choir Director, for your guidance and support.

Caring & Sharing Fundraiser
On Friday, all students at SMS gathered to celebrate the end of the Caring & Sharing Club's Angel Tree Fundraiser. With the help of our SMS students and families, they were able to collect over $3,927 for their Angel Tree fundraiser! This money will allow them to purchase gifts for several Angel Tree children in Grant County this December.
This success was celebrated with a final knockout game between the top three boys and girls in each grade from the grade level competitions earlier in the week. Our student winners were Avery McCollum and Logan Bowling! The teachers also joined in on the fun with two rounds of staff knockout! Coach Bainter dominated in Round 1 and Coach Wreyford took the W in in round 2.
Buy a Yearbook!
Don't miss your opportunity to buy a yearbook for the 2025-2026 school year! They are on sale for $40.00 from now until December 18th.
MINGA
Each Thursday, students have the opportunity to redeem their MINGA points for a reward. Redemption forms are located on the wall outside of the library and down in the cafeteria with Coach Brakebill.

We will be having our Track Tryouts for the 2026 track season November 17-20 and December 2-3 for High School. Attached are the dates of tryouts. Important additional information will also be posted below. We will have different tryout dates for the different campuses in order to get a better look at each individual. Tryouts will be hosted at the High School Track in Sheridan. YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL TO TRYOUT
Tryout Dates:
DECEMBER 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (AFTER SCHOOL)
You can get a physical from the school Jacket Wellness Clinic or from your preferred doctor, but one is required in order to try out. A copy of the physical will need to be shown to us before the tryout. If you played school football, volleyball, cheer, or dance this year your physical is most likely still good.
