Principal's Memo

JMS Parents and Families,

With Thanksgiving being late this year, we have three short weeks of school in December before winter break. Please see this newsletter for important information for the month of December.

Sincerely,

Redefining Ready at Jefferson Middle School Redefining Ready at Jefferson Middle School

What is Redefining Ready?

Wisconsin Redefining Ready (WiRR) School Districts tell their story in a more complete manner than via a State Report Card or other required vehicles. The WiRR dashboard tells a story about a School District’s effort to prepare graduates to be College and Career Ready. Using the AASA’s research-based College and Career Indicators, the WiRR Scorecard is produced annually with School Districts using the various indicators to drive school improvement, align efforts to Academic and Career Planning, and to celebrate success.

Jefferson Middle School's readiness indicators include metrics from assessment data in math and ELA, grade point averages, enrollments in classes, clubs, activities, attendance and office disciplinary referrals, and other important indicators of readiness. These indicators more accurately reflect the educational landscape of the 21st Century.

At SDoJ we strive to ensure all students graduate future-ready based on their individual post-secondary path. By utilizing Redefining Ready targets, we measure our overall future-ready teaching and learning system to develop strategic plans of improvement and create additional opportunities for students.

Continuing to refine our Redefining Readiness indicators during the 24-25 school year will give an even clearer picture on JMS's commitment towards Empowering Futures Together!

⛄Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season⛄

📆 Our next monthly PTO meeting will be December 2, 2024.

Dine Out Night

Thank you Hering’s Towne Inn for hosting our November dine night out! We truly love supporting area businesses. Thank you everyone who dined in or carried out meals. These dine night out events help us to meet teacher and building requests during the school year. ♥️

🪅Fundraiser Appreciation

Students will be having an all school treat on 12/13 to show our appreciation for the Fall fundraiser. We truly are thankful to the students and JMS families for supporting the PTO. The funds raised allow us to be able to give back directly to the students and school during the school year, so thank you. Fundraiser prizes have all been distributed. We are appreciative of our sponsors for giving fantastic prizes.

Holiday Treats for Teachers

🎄Please keep an eye out for the Signup Genius to spoil our JMS staff members before the Holiday break. We want to shower their lounge with some holiday treats and goodies to show how much we care.🎄

Read-a-Thon and Family Fun Night

JMS is planning an all-school read-a-thon where students compete along with classmates to earn an incentive for their whole grade. Individual readers can also earn prizes. After four weeks, JMS PTO will host a Family Fun Night. Mark your calendars for Friday, February 28, 5:30-8:00 pm (Snow date March 7). We’ll celebrate our readers and give families an opportunity to explore the fun and educational clubs and co-curriculars JMS has to offer.

📖 If you are interested in helping with our Read-a-Thon planning, please reach out to jmspto@sdoj.org, we would love the extra help.📚
