Sarah Collins began her high school career as a 3 sport wildcat athlete in soccer, basketball and softball. Her focus quickly began to center around basketball as she developed and toned her skills as a stronger player through her AAU programs in the off-season. At 6-foot-2, and with speed and jumping ability to spare, she was a small forward in a center’s body, as one sports writer put it. Sarah’s freshman year she was playing on the JV team when she got a call from fellow Hall of Fame Inductee Coach Steve Shoff. Midway through the season she was pulled up to play for the Varsity squad where she started to gain confidence and experience at a higher level.
By Sarah’s junior year she was dominating the court and led her team to a 9-1
1st place finish in the Bay State Carey division and the wildcats first tournament appearance in 3 years. She averaged 13 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, 4.5 blocks per game and had a 54% field goal percentage during her junior year playing for Coach Marcie Arnold.
Her senior year she stepped it up to another level leading the Bay State league in points per game, rebounds, blocks, assists, field goals made and steals per game. She was 4th in the state for scoring (17ppg), 4th in the state for rebounds (12rpg), 3rd in the state for field goal % (48) and 3rd in the state for blocks (5pg). Sarah was nearing the end of her high school career when she recorded her first career triple double (21pts 19rbs 10blks) and also scored the winning basket vs Fontbonne in the South Sectional first round playoff game. She finished with 912 career points, was named Bay State League MVP, a 3 time Bay State Conference all star and was named to the MBCA South sectional All-Senior team.
She went on to build an illustrious career as a Babson College Beaver where her team went undefeated 85-0 in unstoppable conference play and undefeated at home resulting in 4 NEWMAC conference titles and advancing to the Division lll NCAA tournament all 4 seasons including 2 Elite 8 appearances.
Sarah scored a whopping 1,705 points at Babson and is Babson’s current all-time leader in field goal percentage (.549), rebounds (1,170), and blocked shots (346). She was named All-America first team by both the WBCA and D3hoops.com, conference Player of the Year by the NEWMAC, and regional Player of the Year by D3hoops.com, NEWBA, and the ECAC.
Sarah is currently a Loan Officer for Needham Bank and recently moved to Hanover, MA with her husband Peter and two dogs where they will be raising their growing family!
