THE WAVE Student Support Newsletter
December 13, 2024
Welcome to the Monomoy Middle School Student Support and Counseling program! We are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where students can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. Our counseling services aim to address a variety of challenges, from stress and anxiety to peer relationship issues and academic pressures. Our trained counselors and psychologist are here to provide guidance, support, and strategies to help students navigate their experiences and develop resilience. We believe that every student deserves a safe space to explore their feelings and gain the tools they need for personal growth. Together, we can empower our students to reach their fullest potential!

Resources
As colder weather approaches, we wanted to highlight a few resources for assistance with utilities and food. For a more comprehensive list of resources, please visit the Parent/Guardian Page of our Student Support Services Site.
Mass.Gov -- A helpful resource that provides information on utilities and rights
Cape Cod Times Neighbors Fund -- To provide urgent financial assistance and resources to our Cape & Islands neighbors
Lower Cape Outreach Council -- Short-term financial assistance for qualified applicants for payments of essential household services such as electricity, gas, rent/mortgage payments, and medical expenses
The Family Pantry -- Harwich Food Pantry open to all who need it, mobile food pantry, satellite food pantry at Cape Cod Community College, and assistance applying for SNAP benefits or fuel assistance
Faith Family Kitchen -- Offering pre-packaged meals Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:30-6:30pm
Massachusetts Food and Nutrition Program -- Nutritional program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries
Spotlight on two Behavioral Health Resources!
Sharing Kindness provides suicide prevention, mental health education and grief support programs on the Cape & Islands. We work to reduce stigma by encouraging courageous conversation around these tough topics.
Grief Support Groups: Sharing Kindness leads grief-focused, trauma-informed peer support programs for specific age groups, relationships and types of loss. Each group is led by a clinician and volunteer who have been trained in our peer grief support model.
We are excited to share that Child and Family Services Outreach Counseling Program is now available at MRMS. Outreach counseling provides access to a licensed therapist during school,
to help reduce barriers to behavioral, emotional, or mental health care. Interested in learning more about the program? Please get in touch with your grade-level counselor for a fact sheet and how to get started.
