HARD WORK PAYS OFF!
Week of February 26th
Good Afternoon Smith Parents/Guardians,
There is a lot of new information in this weeks newsletter, make sure that you scroll all the way through so you don't miss anything!
This is a reminder that Boys & Girls Club is located on campus and provides a free place for your students to wait for you after school each day. They are available until 6:00 pm and provide students with snacks, games, and opportunities to get started on any homework they may have. If you are not able to pick your Leopard up by 4 pm they will be asked to report to the cafeteria for Boys & Girls Club. Please see the flyer below to sign your Leopard up.
Our SMS Cheerleaders once again represented us well as they traveled with the Ellison Eagle Cheerleader squad Friday night and cheered on EHS Basketball!! Thank you Mr. Dominguez and the EHS Cheerleading Sponsors for inviting our Leopards to cheer with them. Congratulations to the Eagles basketball team on the 70-57 victory over Hendrickson.
Next Saturday our Academic UIL Sponsors will be preparing our Leopard UIL contestants with a campus contest. Students will receive instruction and feedback that will help them to prepare for their March 23rd KISD Academic UIL Meet.
The SMS Black History Month program will be this Thursday, February 29th. We look forward to having you join us!

HOW TO PLAY
· Pick up a BINGO card from the library. (Write your name on it and keep it in a safe place. If you lose it, you will have to start over with a new card.)
· Complete the challenge in any four squares in a row, column, diagonal, or four corners on the card to earn a BINGO.
· You must write the title of the book you read in the appropriate square. (It must be a book you are currently reading. Books read prior to the start of this challenge will not count)
· After completing each square, return to the library to answer some questions about the book and get a stamp from library staff for the square to count.
· After each BINGO, you must turn in the card and get a new one.
· Each BINGO earns a prize. You can earn as many BINGOS as you want.
· Each book will only count for one square and cannot be used again by the same player on any other cards.
· The 10 students with the most BINGOS by April 12th will be eligible for the GRAND PRIZE: a field trip to the North Texas Teen Book Festival on April 27th. Check out the link for details.

Required Shots for Next Year 7th Graders
Parents/Guardians of Upcoming 7th grade students:
This is a reminder to get your future 7th grader vaccinated to help prevent the busy back to school rush. This is to include any other vaccines that are reported as missing during the year. State law requires one dose of the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) and one dose of the tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis(TDAP) for your student to start and/or enroll in school. Please take care of this as soon as possible as clinics tend to run out of doses as it gets closer to the start of school. If you have any questions or are not sure if your student is up to date, please call the clinic at 254-336-1074 or 1075. Thanks!
