Scoliosis Screening
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are writing to inform you about an upcoming opportunity for middle school students to participate in a scoliosis screening program at school.
Scoliosis is a condition that involves a sideways curvature of the spine, which can develop during the growth years of adolescence. Early detection is important, as it allows for timely monitoring and, if necessary, treatment to prevent progression.
Our school will be offering optional scoliosis screenings conducted by trained health professionals. The screening is quick, non-invasive, and respects student privacy at all times.
Screening Details:
- Who: Students in middle school grades 6-8
- When:last week in April
- Where:Douglas Middle School
Participation in this screening is entirely voluntary. If you would like your child to take part, please sign and return the consent form by April 17th. Students who do not have a signed consent form will not be screened.
If you have any questions or would prefer to have your child screened by your family healthcare provider, you may opt out of this program.
Thank you for your attention to this important health initiative and for your continued support of your child’s well-being.
Sincerely,
Kathleen A Campbell, BSN, RN, NCSN
School Nurse
