Therapy Dog

In the next few weeks, we will be adding a therapy dog to our school community!

Nancy Stifter, and her half Bichon / half Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Augie Doggie will be joining our Southeast community.

Augie is a rescue who enjoys playing and snuggles! Nancy has participated in our Staff Friends Mentorship Program in the past, so she is a familiar face around our building. Nancy and Augie have worked hard to complete the necessary training through Pet Partners to become a certified therapy dog team and provide support in the community. They are very excited to support Southeast students and staff!

You will see Nancy and Augie around Southeast on Wednesday afternoons. Please help us welcome them as a team to our Superstar community/

What Nancy and Augie's work will look like with our students:

  • one on one or small group reading to Augie

  • scheduled check-ins with selected students (taking Augie on walks or snuggles)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Government Shutdown- Resources

Hello Southeast Families,

With the possibility of a government shutdown affecting programs such as WIC, SNAP, and other public assistance benefits, we want to make sure all of our families have access to local resources that can help meet immediate needs. If your families household income is currently being impacted by the government shutdown, (furlough, reduced hours, working without pay, or other changes in employment status) I encourage you to reapply for free or reduced lunch using your adjusted income (you can apply for the 1st time or reapply for F/R benefits anytime throughout the school year). You can find more information about eligibility and how to apply here. If you prefer a paper application please email me and I can send one home with your child.

I am hoping this compiled list of community food pantries/meal programs available in our area are helpful. These organizations can provide additional support if your family experiences a disruption in benefits or simply needs extra help at this time. If you would like help connecting with a pantry, please don’t hesitate to contact me - I am always here to help.
