Parental Consent (SB12) requirement altered by TEA

On August 29, TEA provided updated directives for Parental Consent (SB12). Consent for health and counseling services is now an OPT OUT of programming, meaning if no action is taken, you are automatically opted in. Only if you want to deny health and counseling services do you need to complete the form.

We will leave the ROISD forms open until Friday, September 5. If the form has not been completed by that time or no action is taken, you will be opted in for both services.

Please log in to your Skyward Family Access for each student and complete these forms.

TEA Overview of School Discipline for Parents communication

TEA has prepared a document designed for families to explain the general requirements of student discipline and laws that were recently changed. We are sharing that document, Overview of School Discipline for Parents, for our parents to better understand expected student behavior, the legal framework around managing discipline, and parental rights for disciplinary removals.

ROISD Attendance Incentives - Every Hawk, Every Day

Red Oak ISD values every Hawk being in school every day. Daily attendance is essential for students to build strong academic foundations, foster meaningful connections, and achieve long-term success. The partnership between home and school is critical, and parental support plays a key role in ensuring students are present and prepared to learn each day.

To encourage and celebrate consistent attendance, Red Oak ISD will reward students who achieve perfect attendance beginning September 2, 2025, through May 20, 2026. Students with perfect attendance will receive the following awards by school level:

• $500 – Red Oak High School students

• $250 – Red Oak and Joy Shaw middle school students

• $100 – Red Oak ISD elementary students

Safety Week Districtwide - Sept. 2-5

Red Oak ISD campuses will hold Safety Week trainings, drills, and utilize best practices during the week of September 2-5. Campuses have multiple drills scheduled, several of which will require the campus to be closed during that time. Please be patient as we practice school safety.

All ROISD elementary schools will also hold Grandparents Day lunches on Friday, Sept. 5. Grandparents are encouraged to pre-Raptor to expedite access that day, and remember all guests MUST pass through the weapons detection system. Grandparents are encouraged to leave non-essential items in their vehicle and only bring in their keys and phones.

Supt. Sanford hosts monthly Coffee Talk

ROISD Superintendent Brenda Sanford will host the monthly Coffee Talk on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 7:45 a.m. Each month she gives a quick update followed by open discussion, questions, inquiries, comments, and other conversations. https://www.redoakisd.org/Page/4893

Varsity Football vs. Arlington Seguin, Sept. 4 @ 7 p.m.

Hawk Nation, Varsity Football kicks off Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. vs. Arlington Seguin at Choctaw Stadium (former Texas Rangers ballpark). Tickets are available at GoFan.co (advance $5 until 4:59 p.m. game day, $8 after 5 p.m., online only—no cash sales; district passes accepted).

ROISD Food Pantry, ROISD ESC, Th., Sept. 11 @ 4 p.m.

Stop by the Education Service Center (ESC) starting at 4 p.m. for a box of goodies. ROISD partners with the North Texas Food Bank to provide a School Pantry each month. Families are provided with a box of shelf goods for each child in the family and usually seasonal fresh produce.
