Wiggin Street Parent Update
September 18, 2026
Welcome
Families,
Weβve had a fun and spirited week celebrating MVHS Homecoming! We wrapped up Spirit Week today with a pep rally featuring MVHS students, including members of the band, cheerleaders, athletes, and the Homecoming Court. It was a great way to end the week!
We wish the Yellow Jackets the best of luck tonight! π§‘π€
Please remember that there is no school on Monday due to a Teacher In-Service Day.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Go Jackets! π§‘π€
Sincerely,
Christy Grandstaff
Principal, Wiggin Street Elementary

We are grateful for everyone who plays a role in making Wiggin Street such a special place to learn and grow.

π Wiggin Street Kids Take the Stage! πβ¨
Our 3rd Grade students traveled to the Knox Memorial Theater today for the YES Concert, where they enjoyed The Wizard of Oz: Part 1!
It was especially exciting to see several of our very own Wiggin Street Kids performing in the production! Congratulations to:
β Cashe Elliott
β Clara Giles
β Lena Giles
β Tallulah Wright
β Imogen Jacklin
We were also proud to see some familiar faces among the cast! Wiggin Street alumni Jane Camillus, Mary Jo Camillus, and Andrew Petersen were also part of the production.
What a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience live theater and cheer on members of our Wiggin Street community! π
π The show continues through September 20th, and tickets are still available. If you have the chance, head to the Knox Memorial Theater and support these talented performers!
Way to represent, Wiggin Street Kidsβpast and present! ππ

Art News
Students just finished working on their superhero themed artwork that will be on display in the school. We are now starting to work on their project for the Art to Remember fundraiser (more information to come soon!) Next up we will be working on the Yearbook Art contest. While you will not see many projects coming home at the beginning of the school year we are still busy creating!
Lost and Found
Parent BCI Background Check for Field Trips
We require that all adults attending field trips will need a BCI background check on file. The board will pay for any parent's background check done through the MVCSD district office to go on field trips or to volunteer at the school. The BCI background check will need to be done every 3 years and needs to be on file in our office. If any parent needs a background check, please go to the district office with your driver's license. Thank you.
School Attendance
Chromebook Insurance: Sign up by October 16th!
Chromebooks
As a district we are 1:1 on Chromebooks, and students in grades 1-5 receive a touchscreen Chromebook to be used in class. K students regularly use iPads and/or Chromebooks that are assigned to students and kept in the classroom.
The MVCSD Student Electronic Device Handbook can also be found on the district website, but I've linked it here for convenience. Please read carefully to understand that "a Student Electronic Device or any of its accessories that are lost (whereabouts unknown) or damaged is the responsibility of the student and parent involved in the loss of property.
There is an option to purchase insurance on devices kept at school, and more information can be found here: OPT IN Student Electronic Device Insurance Flyer (These will be sent home at the start of the school year.) The cost is $39 per device (K-12). Accidents happen, so I highly encourage the purchase of insurance to save you from paying for the cost of a replacement screen or Chromebook with a replacement cost of $368-$455.

Kenyon College Volleyball Wiggin Street Game
The Kenyon College Volleyball Team has planned a Wiggin Street Game on October 7th at 6pm, a home game in which students from Wiggin Street are invited to attend! They will have activities and a chance to walk with a KCVB volleyball player before the game. To get a chance to walk with a player, parents will be encouraged to donate $5, and all of the proceeds will go back to Wiggin Street. Please contact Avery Kraft at craft1@kenyon.edu with any questions.
