Wednesday, June 10, the final student day of the 2025–2026 school year, will operate as a full instructional day for students. Please plan for normal school hours, transportation, and dismissal procedures. Thank you for your support as we close out a strong school year!

Please take a moment to review the items and see if any belong to your child. All unclaimed items will be donated or discarded after the final last day of school (June 10), so please do not wait to check!

At Parkwood Elementary, we ALWAYS show Panther P.R.I.D.E.

Students demonstrating Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Engagement

will have the opportunity to be recognized and entered into daily prize drawings

as we finish the school year strong — one paw at a time! 🐾 🐾

The DPS summer operating schedule will begin Monday, June 15 through Friday, August 7. During this period, district schools and offices will open to the public Monday through Thursday and will be closed to the public on Fridays except for year-round and early colleges that will begin the new academic year during this period, as well as departments supporting summer programming. DPS will resume its regular schedule on Monday, August 9.

Please note the following summer schedule protocols:

• Summer Office Hours: DPS Central Services and school offices will be open to the public on the following schedule:
• Central Services - Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Elementary and Middle Schools - Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• High Schools - Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Now is the time to apply or renew your Durham Public Schools volunteer application for the 2026–2027 school year!

To ensure the safety of all students and staff, all volunteers must complete a new volunteer application each school year. Previous approval does not carry over from year to year.

The online application can be found on the Volunteering at Durham Public Schools page of the Durham Public Schools website. The application includes:

• Volunteer contact information
• Availability and areas of interest
• A required background check

We encourage all parents, guardians, family members, and community partners who wish to volunteer at Parkwood Elementary School during the 2026–2027 school year to complete the application as soon as possible.
