Sunnyvale ISD E-News

This week Sunnyvale ISD celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, with parents, staff and community members recognizing and thanking our SISD teachers for their dedication and impact on student lives. The week was filed with gestures of gratitude, ranging from sweet treats and hearty lunches to hat making and goat yoga.

Sunnyvale Elementary School was treated to refreshments and treats all week long, with the PTA and parents stopping by to serve and show their appreciation.

At SIS, teacher appreciation culminated in Principal Sara Staley surprising her staff with goat yoga, bringing lots of laughter, joy and exercise. Goat Yoga Dallas helped teachers put their goat yoga skills to the test while goats added to the experience.

Throughout the week, Sunnyvale Middle School enjoyed coffee and pastries along with a Chinese food lunch provided by the PTA, and a Mexican lunch served by SMS administration.

Sunnyvale High School enjoyed food and fun all week long provided by PTA and campus leadership. On Friday teachers were invited to share their creativity during a hat-making experience from Principal Graham.

Superintendent Matt Kimball and Assistant Superintendent Jake Duce grilled more than 300 burgers to show their gratitude to all SISD staff on Friday. The administrative team personally delivered burgers and treats to all four campuses.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated our teachers this week, and thank you to our teachers for your dedication to the students and families of Sunnyvale ISD.

Sunnyvale Elementary School students filled the SHS football field on Thursday, May 8 for the annual fun-filled SES Field Day. The day was bright and sunny, and so were were the smiles as students launched rubber chickens, raced with eggs, competed in sack races and pulled with all their might during tug-of-war showdowns.

Sunnyvale Middle School's Junior FFA kicked off the SMS Fest events after school on May 7 in the SMS cafeteria. Junior FFA members showed their entrepreneurial spirit as they sold everything from homemade cookies and baked goods to farm fresh eggs. This event also featured an art walk, concessions and spotlighted the SMS band, choir and theater.

Sunnyvale Middle School's engineering students, taught by Divya Thomas, brought their creativity and technical skills to life by playing an exciting game of freeze tag with robots they recently built. Meanwhile, other student groups engaged in an informative lab activity where they explored stormwater runoff. This dynamic blend of hands-on robotics and environmental science not only sparked enthusiasm but also deepened students' understanding of engineering and sustainability.
