Dear Haynes Families,

We had a fantastic Community Week here at Haynes! The students and staff had a lot of fun working with buddy classrooms, getting to know new friends, and seeing how we are all individuals that make up our Haynes Community.

On Monday, the students met with their buddies for the first time. They answered questions to get to know one another, read a book called "The Kindness Snowflake," and created snowflakes out of pipe cleaners and beads. Tuesday was supposed to be our poetry day but since we didn't have school, the activities were added on to other days. On Wednesday, students read "Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch" and talked about the importance of showing kindness to others and finding ways to make people feel loved. Students then created snowflakes that are now streamed together throughout the school to represent how individually we are unique, but together we are Haynes School!

On Thursday, we had two artists come and help our students create tape art murals on the walls throughout the entire building! Our K-3 students worked on the floor where they used a template and placed tape over a mesh sheet to create their objects. The objects that the K-3 students created were directly linked to one of the larger murals and were added on later. For example, the students that created squirrels and birds had their pieces added to the wilderness mural. Our 4th and 5th graders created their murals directly on the walls. It was truly amazing to watch their creativity and teamwork come to life. The art is absolutely beautiful and you can't help but smile as you walk down the halls and see their work. Thank you Annie Serafim, HOP, and all of our parents and guardians for bringing this wonderful experience to Haynes for our students!

Today, students met with their buddies to read "Little Mouse's Snowflake Question" to analyze the shapes and patterns they see within snowflakes and to create their own using pattern blocks. This afternoon, we are going to end the week with an additional School Meeting for students to view a slideshow of their work and to celebrate the end of Community Week.

Thank you again to Erin Kehew, Kristyn Traversi, Ally Dillaway, Stef Burrell, Lena Karotkin, Anna Noel, Heather Hufnagel, Stacey Lavigne, Colleen Kenosian, as well as all Haynes staff for their work to contribute to this experience.

I want to wish you all a relaxing and healthy February Break.

Best,

Bryant Amitrano

Hi Haynes Families,

As your child grows out of clothes, please keep the Haynes Health Office in mind for donations.

In particular, LEGGINGS and SWEATPANTS are very useful for students who need to change clothes during the school day. Stretchy bottoms accommodate a wide variety of sizes and not all students are able to zip/button on their own. All child sizes are appreciated.

After some accidents, children need to replace everything from the waist down. So I am also looking for donations of new children’s underwear, new socks, and used shoes that are easy to slip on (like crocs).

I have created an Amazon Wish List with these items in the event you would like to contribute in that way.

Thank you so much for helping me supply students in need with a change of clothes.
