World Language Weekly Update

Week of 4/13-4/17

World LanguageWeekly UpdateWeek of 4/13-4/17

French 1

Students view a video lesson everyday and continue practicing in their workbooks ‘To Have’ and ‘To Be’ while describing feelings and locations. This can be challenging since in French we do not use these two verbs similarly. For example, in French, you have hunger, or you have ‘coldness’. They will also view their favorite media daily in the target language and point out ten words they recognize daily. Finally they will do 20 minutes of Duolingo everyday.

French 2

Students will continue with Chapter 4. They will view a video lesson everyday and practice their possessive adjectives with their respective gender and number agreements. We will also start demonstrative adjectives this week, and comparaisons: more than, less than, better, best, very, enough and too much. Daily, students will view their favorite media in the target language, and point out ten words they recognize. Finally they will do 20 minutes of Duolingo everyday.

German 1

This week students are sharing their Important Person projects. Each creator made a short quiz as well; classmates will show each creator that they engaged with the project by taking the quiz, and the creators can see their results. Next week, to celebrate earth day week, students will engage with a special earth day story, Mats und die Wundersteine, and they will learn about earth day in Germany.

German 2

This week students read the story “Oma Flix” and completed an Edpuzzle checking for comprehension of what they read. Next week we will read a new story about Summer vacation called “Hurra Ferien” with another Edpuzzle. They will retell the story in a free-write and add what they want to do on their own coming vacations. We will continue to have weekly Flipgrid video response questions on an aspect of German culture or grammar.

Spanish 1

This week students continued working with Family vocab, including extended family and continued watching our weekly Spanish drama - Mi vida loca. Next week they will practice with Conjuguemos and do another formative assessment of the family vocabulary. They will also view the next episode of mi vida loca.

Spanish 2

Students continued their practice of the city, commented on their weekends or favorite birthdays, and watched and voted on their favorite song. Next week we will be practicing more with a map and giving directions. We will also play Conjuguemos to review and we will formatively assess vocabulary.
